Smile NEW LIGHTNING OWNER!!!!!

Hello All,

I just wanted to introduce myself to the group. I just picked up my Red 1999 Ford SVT Lightning yesterday. I previously had a 1998 Dodge Dakota R/T so I'm used to fast trucks, but this thing is AWESOME!!! The blower makes all the difference. This is such a cool packaged truck. Anyways, I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I hope to make some new friends and learn more about my truck.

Hey Robby:

A most hearty welcome!
Be prepared to spend a lot of your spare time reading the various messages on this site, not only the Lightning threads, but look through all of them.
Probably the greatest bunch of folk you would ever hope to meet and converse with and a well disciplined site as well.
Enjoy the experience, and........enjoy your Lightning. I sure do!

Greetings and welcome!

Be also prepared to spend ruinous amounts of money, buying new toys for your new Toy and time explaining to your wife/significant other why/where those dollars are going.

You know you are at the "Point Of Know Return" (pun intended, no flames pls) when you catch yourself sneaking out at night to get "just one more gallon" of 104 octane racing fuel, for the meet at the track the next day. The one you told her you were going to play golf (in the next county) to cover up.

When you go without lunch for 2.5 months to pay for the computer chip, or say the kid's shoes'll last another 6 weeks so you can pop for the cone filter setup you've been drooling over, you will have hit rock bottom.

At that point, just like with a boat, you may as well cut your losses, sell it and get a Chevy, because nothing will ever quite do it for you again.

See previous posting "Is this thing a sickness?" for further info.

Enjoy!

P.S. Pay no attention to that list of goodies in my signature, this is strictly clinical interest here. I'm doing a thesis for my doctorate in Sociological Psychology, titled "Speed kills, buy a Chevy and live"
(with regards to the person from whom I plagerized that title). Yeah! Yeah! That's the ticket! Mwahahaha! (maniacal laugh w/sinister background music in the background)

P.P.S. Have you checked out www.nloc.org yet?

Welcome aboard!! After reading all the interesting posts, getting ideas how to squeeze more HP/speed out of these beauties, and add to their already good looks, you may find yourself tempted to dip into the 401K plan. That's after you've already put off buying new shoes and eating lunches. It's definetly a sickness that feels good!
