You might want to double check the MAP sensor wiring in that case. It could be the issue behind the high reading... You could try testing with a mechanical boost gauge only to see what the reading is on it and compare it to the new one. What did the stock gauge read when the new gauge hit 12psi? It should not have pegged or gone above the 10psi mark.

Just wanted to give a lil update on my peak boost. I reset the peak boost and now the max I am seeing is 10 psi. I must not have let the guage calibrate enough. 10psi is alright with me for now
