QUESTION FOR F150SVT
I was just wondering what you paid for your invicta-shield kit and installation. I live in Tampa and the only installer over here is kind of high in my opinion. I was also wondering if you could tell me what your kit covers on your truck and if you think the full kit is worth the extra money. Thanks
for any help you can give and I hope all goes well during Hurricane Floyd.

Hey Sandspur,
I paid around $600 for the full kit. Took the installer 11 hours to do the job in my garage at home. Covers most of the front end (front bumper, air dam, leading edge of hood), top edge of cab, forward windshield posts, and lower side ground effects all the way to back of truck. So far, it's been great. I can recommend it, and the Invinca-Shield people at their NC home office were great (especially Beth McCormick).
Talking price, my neighbor paid around $1200 each to cover his little Porsche Boxster 310S and his '98 Corvette (same installer I used). He couldn't believe I got it for half that much. How much did the dealer quote you?
We're sitting tight waiting on Floyd. Just heard it may be "upgraded" to a catagory 5. Only been two 5's in recorded history (one unnamed storm in 1935 and Camille in '69). Weatherman is predicting a minimum of 75 mph winds inland here in Orlando tomorrow. Winds close to the eye are hitting 200 mph at present. Hope it doesn't do any damage over your way.

sandspur,
I got mine, installed onsite and the full kit, for $544, and I too, am happy to recommend it. On my black truck, you can't even see the lines from 5 feet away. and it covers 99% of the exposed front facing area subject to chips and dings. Money well spent if you want to keep your truck really protected, IMHO.

The guy over in Tampa quoted me $950 for the kit that covers everything but the side ground effects and for an additional $470 he would install the kit for that. Was your price just for the kit or was the installation included? If you could please give me the name of your installer and maybe I will take a trip to the east coast one weekend to have him install it for me. Maybe we could get together for some dinner or something and exchange Lightning stories. Thanks for all your help.
sandspur,
My total cost for parts, installation and tax came to $611.20. As they say, pricing varies by installer. My installer's name is Alan Seligman. His office is in Altamonte Springs (just north of Orlando) and his phone number is 407-331-5640. Alan's uncle started Invinca-Shield several years ago, then sold the company and the new owners moved it to North Carolina.
The kit number for the full 26 piece '99 Lightning kit is #1537. It includes all the pieces your installer is talking about for both kits.
Have you talked to Beth at I-S's home office (1-888-558-4034)? She sent me a folder containing a brochure, samples of the 3M Scotchcal material, and a sheet showing all 26 pieces of the full kit. I can fax you a copy of that sheet if you would like me to.
Give Alan a call. I'm sure he will take good care of you. It's sometimes hard to reach him (he goes out to California ocassionally to cover exotic cars out there) so you may have to leave him a message. Tell him I sent you so he isn't tempted to charge you Tampa prices.
Give me a call or shoot me an e-mail when you get it set up. It would be fun to get together.

My Lightning is black also. That's the most difficult color to work with - of course. Up close (within 5 feet) you can see some of the edges of the plastic film. Not bad at all. Otherwise, it's invisable. You wash and wax the truck just like it wasn't there. Depending on the type of wax used, you sometimes need to detail the edges of the film with a Q-tip or soft toothbrush to remove excess wax.
