Some time you guys need to use that thing between your ears when you are installing aftermarket parts...not everything fits like a factory part.
Well I finished the install yesterday and without grinding the socket and brackets it would have been impossible. Even after grinding down the wall of the socket, the flange on the bracket and slightly widening the U bolt hole, I still had to tap the socket onto one of the nuts with a hammer to get it to seat. How is it possible to tighten the nuts evenly to create more clearance when a socket is not able to engage the nut to tighten it in the first place? Did you look at the pic? Thank god I used that thing between my ears and found a way to make this thing work. I could also tell by looking at the way the brackets were made that no two would be the same. They looked to be individually bench welded as opposed to factory made to specified tolerances. Which is probably why I got a pair with less clearance than others. I'm glad I bought and installed them and really like the product. I'm just saying if LFP knows of this problem and they are not going to address it, they should at least give a "heads up" in the instructions so you can be prepared and have what you may or may not need on hand to complete the job before disabling you're truck.
