Man, the brake cleaner I bought was so caustic it melted the plastic cup I had it in. It was practically peeling the black badge paint back on the q-tips approach. Try a different brand?

I bought my Acetone at Lowes, it was in a blue can. It took the black right off of my badges.

Ok...I'm going to try tomorrow and get some acetone. I bought two more brands of brake cleaner and only got the rear emblem done. My fingers are throbbing...arhhhhhh!

Acetone it is...I'll try it tomorrow @ lunch time.

Thanks again,
Jim

when i did mine, i bought some pretty strong acetone (NOT nail polish remover) and took a rag, and basically just wiped over the black and it came off, then used a q-tip for nooks/crannies.. took about 10 minutes.. then I washed the areas immediately around the badges with soap/water to save my clear coat...

I bought some acetone from Lowe's this morning and some "Goof Off" for backup ;-) I'll test it @ lunch. I gotta say the back one I finished last night does look nice. I like it!

Used the acetone and it only took me about 45 minutes to do the two fender badges. I should have never gone with the brake cleaner. Thanks everyone for your input.
