ftvb problem or what?

put magnaflows on tonight and took the L out for test drive. Igot on it a little from rolling start.burned through 1st but when it shifted the truck fell on its face had boost put no power it felt like it shifted into 4th gear. I stopped and when I start it doesn't feel like its in 1st. over drive light is flashing. I shut truck off and restarted and now in addition to the flashing od light my check engine soon light is on to. I think I saw someone on the forum with the same problem after installing the ftvb but I never saw the result. this is only the 2nd time I have had the truck out after installing the factory tech. truck has 1,050 miles whats up?

That may have been my post. I had similar issues, and thought it may have been the tranny shifting too slow causing the engine to hit the rev limiter/boost bypass selenoid. I installed the FTVB to try and solve the problem. Wasn't the prob. Ended up being a bad chip. Replaced chip with Predator tune, and now everythings cool, plus I have the VB.
Sounds like you think the prob is because of the VB. Doesn't sound right to me, but maybe you have some more info to offer, including mods.

have you checked the codes w/ your predator yet? Mine came up with a bad boost bypass selenoid. If your check engine light came on, there will be some info in the trouble codes.

no I limped home and got on the forum. sal shut off the boost bypass with the predator. I could check the codes and then put the stock program back in and see if that fixes it. I sure hate to pull the mods to take it to ford

One major clue for me was that at the end of the 1-2 shift (I believe this is also where your truck had the prob) my tach read 58-5900rpm. Did you happen to notice what your truck was shifting at?

I had waste gate (it's what I just called boost bypass selenoid), and overboost (obviously from the pulley). That's it. but, I do find it interesting that you have the waste gate code. Maybe there's something there.
Is your truck still acting up? Mine was only in "limp mode" for about 20 sec, and then it would reset, I guess, and drive fine at slow speeds until I bounced it off the rev limiter again.
Also, plan on at least bringing the truck to the dealer for the waste gate sensor, as it costs about 240 out of pocket.

I just rambled there, but I think something is probably wrong with all of those codes. If it was me, I'd def bring it in to the dealer, or someone local that you trust. I was lucky enough to have some good advise (Don'sbolt), and great help(JGStang67).

If the OD light is blinking your tranny has defaulted to 3rd gear. Check the HEGO/ Tranny fuse under the hood. It will likely be blown.

Now, find WHAT caused it to blow, most of the time its a 02 sensor wire coming in contact with metal or melting or so forth. Since when working around the tranny and the magnaflow you are near the rear 02's I would check them first....good luck, happened to me with my header install, I fried through an 02 sensor wire and tripped the same fuse.

Hope this helps

Check all your wiring arond the exhaust, this is not an uncommon thing with aftermarket exhausts, it burns through the wire going ot the TSS.

I had the same problem after installing my my FTVB. But mind happened right after start up. I accidently clipped a wire and blew the fuse (20amp). Blinking OD light...SES code....I didn't have a waste gate code though. Good luck
