From what I know about open cell filters, is that they do flow more air , but as Tim pointed out, at the expense of better filtration. It design incorporates a "maze" for the dirt to get trapped.This technology goes back to my 70 chevelle open cell air filter.Same reason why open cell filters are less desirable in your home's A/C unit. It will not trap smaller micron particles. How small? I guess only True Flow can answer that. Also, ProMod had some carb cleaner get on his big block's set up and the foam got broken up and entered his intake!They do not like petroleum distillates. Unlikely circumstance...yes, but its something to think about.

so doesnt having that out in the opem cause it to suck warm engine air?
