Cool To all 99 Lightning owners

I really wanted a 99 Lightning but when I checked on insurance it seemed to be too much for me to afford on top of payments of the truck, and when I visited the SVT dealers around my area they said they were all sold. Of course there aren't too many SVT dealers in Kansas. So I bought a 99 S/C Flareside 4x4, loaded of course. Now come to find out insurance is cheaper than what I have on my new truck and there are still 99 Lightnings for sale. I did get to drive one and all I can say is "OH MY GOD!" They are more than what I expected and I am kicking myself in the ***. Just wanted to let you know I am jealous as hell of you for having one and best of luck with them. Plan to get one VERY soon. This is the best thing Ford or anyone has ever done with a truck.

FYI,

Bay Area Ford, Webster, Tx. (between Houston and Galveston on I-45) has a red 99 on the ground and it is the LAST red one to be had according to my sales guy, Robert Burkett. They are asking for 2500 over sticker, but I think Robert could be convinced to let go for 1500. I know this doesn't sound like a really good deal, but it's the best available around here. Lightnings are getting few and far between at the dealers right now.

Joe Myers, Central, andRussel Smith all ask MSRP. Not sure if they have sold all of them yet but its worth a try.

SUCK, I don't quite understand what your saying, that your new 99 S/C insurance costs you more than a new Lighting ?? Is it due to most lighting owners carry a $1000 deductible vs $250 or $500, so they keep the cost down...??
I think you need to break down the insurance cost and what type or types of coverage your comparing these 2 trucks to.........Dogcam

The higher insurance rates are probably attributed to the 99 S/C Flareside being a 4x4. When I called for insurance quotes my Lightning was quoted at $20 less than a 4x4 Lariat. Of course it really depends on your insurance company and how they classify the truck.

As far as insurance goes....nothing really beats a truck other than a honda civic or a Ford Escort.

the insurance on my 98 Z28 with not tickets or accidents was 2800$ (Canadian = funny money!;-) The insurance on the Lightning is only........get this 900$ for the year. That is some major savings for me, right there!!!!
