I ordered a 2000 Silver Lightning, Options as follows:
CD Changer
Hard Bed cover (Dealer)
LoJack (dealer)
Wheel Locks (Dealer)
I will Paid 2.5K under 2000 sticker, I went through 10 dealers, before I found one that would budge of sticker.
I still have to decide on the brand of Hard bed cover, any suggestions.

Hey SILVERBULLET,
What dealer did you go through? Are you getting the Ford employee discount?
Just wondering...

the first run was advertised with wheel locks, but there is 4000 out there w/o 16000 wheel locks, whoever pulled that off probably got #4000 free.

2000,

Congrats on finding a Y2K for $2,500 under! That's a great deal. I paid MSRP for my '99. Many paid a premium over retail. This is the first I've heard of anyone getting a discount. Are you sure the dealer doesn't think you're ordering a V6 XL? (grin)

Silver is a new color for the 2000 MY, so unless one has been repainted, you're out of luck on pics of an existing silver '99.

I have an A.R.E. hard tonneau cover and love it. High quality unit. Also have a BedRug liner that I can recommend highly.

Dealer markup on LoJack is about $150. You should be able to get it for $50 over (I did) but, with a $2.5K discount on the truck, you might not want to argue.

And, like others have stated, you might want to quiz your dealer a little more on the wheel locks.

Good luck during your 7 month wait. Silver should be a killer color. Post a pic when you get it so the rest of us can admire it.

Best wishes,

Mike Philpott

You have gotta go with an ARE cover. Have one on a 99 4x4 Flareside, looks great. I also ordered the cover with a sport wing, all I have to say, it is a serious look!! Never been happier with appearance. Also have a friend with a 99 Lightning with the cover and wing, one word to describe it, ORGASMIC!!!

I've got to give my vote to ARE as well. I ordered one for my 99 Lightning yesterday. The ARE cover is nice because it doesn't require any drilling (uses clamps) and since it hangs over the side of the bed-rails it should be water-tight.

2000Silverbulletonorder keep in touch with your local dealers if you're interested in a 99. I too had ordered a 2000 (after being told that all 99's were sold) but Saturday's paper had an add from a dealer advertising 99 Lightnings in stock. I called them right away and was able to get the last one.
