Trashed Eaton, new Kenne Bell and SSOTN

Well , I think my ported eaton has seen better days. On my way to work tonight it now has a very loud bass type hum to it. It started this noise about 2 weeks ago (100 miles). It was just a short sound when it started, now it is there 75% of the time. I'll have to pull it to verify. It was ported Jan 04 by Apten. I started off by running an 8lb w/2.8 upper, then last fall we switched to a 10lb lower. I have been very happy with this blower. I gained alot of power with it. The L has seen over 540rwhp and 640rwftlb with this blower and no spray. It has run a best of 11.36 @ 119mph (1.62 60 ft.) at full weight (4800lbs). I was hoping to lighten it up this fall at SSOTN and try to bust a 10.99. I think the L would do it seeing that at home here it has went 11.40 @118mph in 90 degree heat with a 1.53 60ft (full weight).
So now I have to talk the wife into a Kenne Bell! I don't want to waste more money on a ported unit. Seeing that I've wanted a Kenne Bell for a while now. I think I will be able to get my 10.99 this fall.

WOW Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice #'s bro , do you have aftermarket Heads and Cams ?
I'm spinning my Ported Eaton with a 9-7/8" Lower and 2.7" Upper myself,
I'm not putting out anything near you (@450/580), but for stock heads and cams I cant complain.

One things for sure, the KB will to get you into the 10's NO PROB

Rob, buddy, you know what you have to do. Get the credit card back out. Forget JR's college, start charging him rent. Rent out your bedroom and sleep on the couch. You need to get more creative here if you want to live the dream.. Get the heads and cams. Put on the MP back on and see what it can do..

Well it's not the blower. I have not a clue what this noise could be. It seems to only do it once the motor and blower have warmed up. I have never heard this type of noise before on any thing ( acceseries?)going bad. Of course it won't do it when the truck is sitting in the garage idling.

Get it up to temp, then remove the blower belt. See if it still makes the noise. Also check the idler and tension pulleys. Might have some bad bearings.

huh... interesting. I read somewhere that ported heads and cams resulted in a lot more power. That is damn impressive power you're making from that eaton.

I guess those heads and cams really let the air flow through the engine and let it breathe.
Those who aren't happy with their power levels should really consider ported heads and cams! Here's some proof of the results.

How does it idle? I was riding around in a lightning this weekend with ported heads and stage 3 cams and it sounded incredible, oh yeah, and the power
