04 Invoice Price?
This dipsh** at a dealership wants 38 for a 04 with 10000 miles on it. Needless to say he didn't know anything about the truck except that there isn't a 05 model and thats why its soooo much. Also he had the ***** to tell me they hold their value really well.

I can see supply and demand on a new truck with no miles. Not on a model thats almost 2 years old. If thats the case 99-04 would be going up or stay the same in value, not down. I live in Hawaii and the guy made it a big deal they had it shipped from CA. I didn't order it so it makes no difference to me. They probally bought it at an auction.
I hear you and completely understand but still with supply and demand it don’t matter if its something new with 0 miles or something 10 years old with 50,000 miles.
I bought my 03 new in Feb. of 2004, since I live in New Hampshire it was a cold winter with lots of snow. Needless to say high performance vehicles don’t move that fast. The dealer I bought it at had 6 of them sitting on their lot and had been there a good 6 months.
I suspect they sat their because those who would have been truly interested figured the new Gen III’s would be coming so why buy an “old” model.
I seen pictures of the “prototype” for the Gen III and thought they looked like crap. Of course that is my opinion but I truly think the Gen II will always have the character that will be hard to replace.
I paid $27.5k for mine brand new. It now has approx. 4,200 miles on it and I wouldn’t sell it unless someone offered close to $45k or more. I bought it to keep for a long time and I know, well pretty sure, nobody would ever offer that kind of money. Never bought it for an investment but if someone offered the right amount of cash, well who knows…
Oh, approx. 1 - 2 months after I bought mine news came out that Ford might not be building any more Lightning’s. The few remaining at the dealer that had been marked down to $27.5k soon went up to somewhere around $34k and up…

Yeah I see what you mean. I love Gen II and was actually going to trade in my white 00 for a white 04. My truck is paid off and only has 39000 miles (deployed all the time) on it. Probally stupid idea in the long run but I wanted the last year with all the changes that were done from 00. Plus less miles.
