My Lightning is a daily driver, including winter and snow. I've had no problems with the FTVB in inclimate weather. You have be on the gas pretty hard to get a chirp.

why get the ftvb if you have a warranty go spend the money on a xaclibrator 2 or somthing like that and if the tranny goes have ford put in a new one for free.

Probably not, because myself and a lot of other people cannot get the 1-2 shift "chirp". My 2-3 shift will break your neck though.

Unless you tell them that you have one, they will never know. There has never been a warranty claim denied because of a FTVB as far as we know.

You don't think they'd notice Greg's signature in big black letters on the side of the valve body?

I might be wrong but xcalibrator is not a chip it is a flasher so they wont know if you take it out before you go in for service. Don't quote me on that if any people that really know if that is true or not please chime in so I know also.

If they did, they wouldn't know what it was.

I have NEVER advocated anyone out and out lying about having a FTVB, and not one has ever voided a warranty ( I do have an inside source on that one, eh?) I do understand that there are some dealers a little zealous about voiding a warranty for tinted windows, floor mats etc... so it's sometimes not a good idea to go in and volunteer any mods, and I totally understand that, but if it gets into the factory for warranty analysis, it will not void the warranty there, it's about as close to being a factory approved mod as you can get (although, it is not, Ford officially does not approve any mod beforehand) I do know of at least one case of the "other" valve body being determined to have failed the transmission, but even it was not the fact that it was installed, it had a retainer clipped over the 321 spring and this prevented the 310 valve from cycling and burned up the OD clutch plates. The FTVB, unlike any other transmission mod I have seen, tunes the duration exactly like Ford does, it's at the end of the day a different calibration of the the accumulator that was not offfered from the factory, where at least 13 different calibrations were built over the years.

Anyhow, on the 3 occasions where a tranny failed with a FTVB in them, and thats out of just shy of 9,000 of them installed, we have happily replaced the FTVB for free in the new transmission, in case you don't want to give anyone at the dealer an excuse. All three of these units failed for other reasons, and the warranty was not questioned either at the dealer or the factory. And even on a re-flash, we can tell the program has been altered, there are things done that you cannot prevent or "erase" if you run it out of the program.

Hope this helps,

G
