Is this Lightning thing a sickness?
Awwwwww Man,
I was sure when I bought my new '02 L I was just going to have another new vehicle, WRONG, I seemed to have a fever and drool all the time. Maybe it was something I ate, nope. Okay, so I watch the weather reports to see when it might rain to maximze the amount of clean car time.
When I leave her in the parking lot, I keep looking back, she calls to me like a woman with big eyes begging me to come back and drive her a little more.
YEP! I am sick all right, no cure in sight. Wait she wants me to order some more goodies. I am turning the couch and chairs over for change, hey, is that a recyclable aluminum can I see?
OH YEAH, I got it all right.

Oh my God is a Lightning a sickness! I had always dreamed about owning a Lightning when they first came out in 1993, but never had pockets deep enough. Finally, over Labor Day of last year, we went and bought a 2001 L. All my friends could not believe that we got one because they thought it was silly to own a L where the winter lasts for 8 months (Alaska). They think it is silly because they don't understand and drive 4 cylinder compact cars. Anyway, I am active duty Air Force and have to go to Kuwait for the entire summer this year. There will be no driving the Lightning at all; I won't even be able to look at it because I will be on the other side of the world.
I will get about three weeks before I go and about a month and a half after I get back to drive my L as much as I possibly can because of the snow.

hehe! Yeah, my wife says Im eat up and obsessed with "that truck"! I cant help myself! I also put towells in the floorboard so as not to get her dirty, polish her all the time, and kinda like being on crack,Ive sold some other toys and personal belongins just to keep my addiction going!! Its like the Lightning tells me what she wants!( Ok........now Im hearing things and really losing it)
Something about looking at her and those big headlamps staring back at you............hell, if I could make love to it.......I would!!!

No doubt it's a plague....
I feel much better now, I see I'm not the only one.
Have owned a few cars but this one ranks in the top for favorites.
I too check the weather before driving it..
Park away from everyone when possible & wash it by hand.
Try to detail as much as possible while it's in the garage until the weather clears.
Went & bought some carpet from Home Depot to keep the floor descent.
Since the L came the Navigator has been placed outside in the cold. Only purpose for it - keep the L out of snow & ice.
The SC whine & handling are missed and I fine myself eagerly anticipating the next drive(weather permitting).
Currently saving for MODS, when will this sickness end

That is what I equate her to. She rules me like no other lover. I know she misses me at night when I'm sleeping. She's like a good dog that's always glad to see me.
Hell, I'm going out to the garage and give her a kiss on her sexy headlamp!

"Honey, wanna go fer a ride?"
"You're obsessed!! You just got back!"
"I know, but that whine is still in my head ... I
can't seem to get rid of it!"
"I'm leaving ... You spend ALL your time on that DAMN truck!!!"

DISTURBED...DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS...For someone about to turn 54 years old you would think they would have gotten that hard edge music and hard edge for speed out of their system. I thought I had licked it when I got rid of the Mustang. NO, they had to start building these damn trucks. No theres sits my L with 4 AC/DC & 2 Rolling Stones CD's in the player, chip, filter, pulley, and now spending half a grand on drag slicks and wheels. What the H, and the wife....she doesn't even want to talk about it.
Yea, it's a sickness, and the worst thing? I don't believe there is a cure.

Heck, I was talken to SVT-KY last night on the phone, told him I had to eat dinner, which I did. Once that was out of the way. Straight to the PC I went. Pulled up F-150, went to the Hylanders X-plan, downloaded it, went to all the dealers and e-mailed them asking if they sell me one on the x-plan. (I'm looking for the silver and found 4 around here) Was on the PC for 4 hours doing this. My lady pulled me a side and said....you know the really have it BAD for this TRUCK....don't you??? I said well not really, I have to get all my ducks in a row now before I go buy one. (did not do that on my 97 V6 and had a bad time for the first few mouths with engine problems) She just laughed at me and said NO you have it bad. hehehe Heck I don't even have one YET. But I'm a trying....real hard.
I'm trying to see if there is room in the garage to put it, along with our two bike. I my have to buy a cover for my bike so I can put the L-in the garage and my bike on the patio. *L*
DO I have it...the disease????
GOD...my coffee got cold typing this...I hate that

Growing up I would see cool tricked out, fast cars. It never occured to me that someone had to do a bunch of work and spend a ton of money to do that.
I drove a bunch of junkers in my teens so when it I was able to afford a new vehicle, I didn't have real high expectations. My '94 F150 with the 4.9 seemed much more powerful than anything else I've owned. I was content. I realized that fuel injected was the way to go.
I learned a thing or two with the couple of new vehicles I've owned. I really didn't think I was capible of doing mods. I didn't even check into it.
Before my current F150 I had a '00 Ranger. Nice truck. The only problem was the 3.0 and A/T. Too damn slow! I traded that in after nine months and got the F150.
Then, while searching for a way to raise the speed limiter in the F150 I found this web site. This is when I was infected. It must be contagous. This site is rampant with the disease!
First it was the Superchip and exhaust. Got a chance to run on the drag strip, ran a 16.52. I thought that was ok. Then I thought about it. It's not ok. I HAVE to do better. So first the chip, then the exhaust, intake, It's better but still not enough. So I bit the big one and bought the Magnacharger. The truck screams now. It's still a far cry from a Lightning.
I think I will have to sink a few grand more into this truck then upgrade to the Lightning.
This disease will only get worse. It's not just here on the Lightning section. It's spread to all of the sections. The only cure I can see is a bad recession. I would rather live with the affliction though.
You know, you Lightning people are the ones that are spreading the disease the fastest!
Thanks!
