X-Calibrator question.

For the guys that have an E-fan installed, do we need to cut power to it, as well as removing the fuel pump fuse, prior to uploading a tune? Or just the fuel pump fuse, since the E-fan didn't come stock on the Lightning?

I recently purchased an xcal2 from Sal. He tuned mine on the dyno with the tool and didn't shut anything down. the xcal loaded fast and perfect, unlike my old pred which sometimes didn't write to the truck. I also have the lfp E-Fan and had it on hi for cooling during the tuning process.

Yes, I just talked to Sal. He said it wasn't required to disconnect either one. It's in the directions though; so, I figured it would be a good idea to get some feed back before I get started and screw something up. The Predator made me a little gun shy.

Thanks for the reply.

which one do you like better?xcal2 or the predator? I was getting predator e-mail custom tunes but I am thinking of getting the xcal2 because a local guy is a dealer and tuner for it(plus he has a dyno).

Just got it today. It's too damned hot to fool with right now; but, it seems much simpler, and does pretty much the same things as the Pred. It's also upgradable over the internet. There are new functions being developed for it right now, from what I understand. I'll know better once I've fooled with it for a while.

I hate the Predator. I would do the chip shuffle again before falling back to it.

my experience with the predator was that sometimes it simply didn't register the changes Sal was making to the tune. I saw this when he was trying to add fuel. back to back dyno runs after adjustment with no change and then a 3rd pull and a big change. without a dyno I don't know how you could be sure any thing you entered actually registered. the xcal seems to be way faster. I think the predator is a good tool but the xcal technoligy has surpassed it. I'm sure Diablo isn't going to play dead for long and will upgrade their tool soon.
