Lightning warranty voided

Friends,

My wife spoke with a warranty person at our local ford dealer about the 36 month 36 thousand mile warranty that came with the truck. We were curious as to how and if this wreck would affect our warranty if I am forced to repair instead of total out this truck. Well it seems they told her that the warranty would be voided. Can this be true. The individual stated that the affected area and associated replaced parts would not continue to be covered. The frame is associated with just about everything in my warped train of thought. If it must be repaired the work will be done at the dealership where I purchased it. The parts will all be new ford parts. How in hell can ford guarantee their work out of one side of their mouths and void the warranty out of the other. Hey we have repaired your vehicle to factory specs and it is almost as good as new....We just have to void your warranty because your Vin is now branded. Your truck will act and drive like the near new truck it is. Sorry we can't fix anything that was covered under the warranty you paid for inclusive to the purchase. Am I demented in My thinking? grin..don`t answer that. Anyway anybody ever heard of or had this type of problem.

What do you guys think about negotiating a value for the warranty coverage loss to jack up the damage and increase the chance of totalling it out. I'm sick I know......

There are Two white ones sitting at Coastal ford in Mobile and the sticker is 30,400. without the tonneau. White is not My first choice but the fever is building again. Thanks for any ideas and or help....

Jeff(Farmers Insurance is indicating they will replace the frame..now}

Twisted:

Been there done that.

As VP Service & Parts for SAAB in my former life, I ran into this scenario many times.

Things may have changed a bit in the last 9 years, but back then, you would have excellent grounds to make the Insurance Co. total the truck and replace it with a new one. This could be done in cooperation with FMC or on your own.

In any case, do not give in. You do have a legitimate case for a new truck.

By the way, White is way cool. They're also faster.

"White also gets better gas mileage."

A salesman at a car dealership (not Ford) had the nerve to tell me that. He explained it this way. He said that since white reflects heat better, you would run your A/C less, making you have better gas mileage.

I just laughed to myself and said "Oh really?".

Twisted99 - I understand your confusion. I'm glad to say my experience didn't involve my new L. I had an accident with a 1990 Mustang GT that resulted in extensive damage (hit by a drunk driver). I finally got a regional rep. involved with the dealership and the car was eventually totaled. Up to that point the dealership would listen to no reasoning on why I felt the mess should be scrapped.

Two other points:

1. What does WOT stand for? I've seen HOT (hard on throttle) and BTTW (which translates to '********* against a vertical structure').

2. If white Lightnings are better in the summer and black Lightnings in the winter for speed/energy reasons - then I would presume red ones are the best all around (just a little pun - no attempt to ruffle feathers - they all look great!).

Thanks for listening - Chuck

Dear Twisted99,

Immediately get the name and telephone number of your dealership's factory Zone Representative, commonly referred to as the "Zone Rep". Then immediately contact that individual, and be prepared for it to take a few days to hear back from them, as they spend a lot of time traveling to their dealerships. You can request a meeting at the dealership with the Zone Rep, and I'd be willing to bet this can be straightened out. Either they back the warranty, or your insurance company replaces the vehicle, period. Those are the only two acceptable scenarios, (at least to my way of thinking)otherwise, contact an attorney.

To say the least, we wish you all the best,

happened to my friend, he got into an accident with his Focus, 12,000 in damage (don't ask why it didn't get totaled out). Anyway Ford has now voided his warrenty and won't even look at a thing on it.

Ford is the best company on earth. They are honest in all their dealings. They would never try to get one over on a consumer.
