I'll trust anything outta Stan's backyard or Tim's ...
Y'all haven't ever driven a car that lost the tie rod or
spindle have you? It's scarey as he!! ... I wouldn't
run this setup to the corner grocery. Sorry, being
unsafe just isn't worth the ride OR the bling.

I doubt I will have to remove the new spindles in the future. I will install safety wire to the grade 8 slim nut but just in case I will add 5 minute epoxy to the nut. I tried this once and it becomes almost impossible to remove without damaging the nut itself. The only way to remove the nut is to heat it up with a torch.
This may be a little extreme, but it will give me some added peace of mind and I am the only one doing work on my truck. So in the remote chance that I need to remove this part, I know that it must be heated first.

I will tell you the MOST correct way to fix this BIG over sight that bell tech did [and this is how I would do it]other than NOT running them!
Take them to a machine shop[tool and die one]NOT an automotive one!have them spot face the surface where the nut is seated down about .090 to .100.[that is max otherwise you might run out of threads on the ball joint!!that way you can use the stock castle nut you more than likely will need to redrill for the cotter key,but that is easy once on the vehicle.By spot facing you are loosing mater rite at the nut surface but since you have a bigger base surface the strength loss is small.Plus if they use a end mill with a raduis on it you don't gain any stress risers.
JUST remember when you see bell tech do this operation in the future[and I am sure you will] WHO told you first!! Stan

Well, after reading your comments, I called Belltech today. I asked them if they would modify/introduce a Lightning specific part and he replied "Absolutely NOT because there is NOTHING wrong with them". I told him I was concerned about safety and that others had the same concern. His reply was "that there was allot of false information being circulated on the boards. The slim nut and the chisel on the bolt is the RIGHT way to install the part on the LIghtning as per the instructions included in the box".
I told him that I had a safety concern with that type of installation. He then replied, and I quote exactly, " IF I WAS SO CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY THAT I SHOULDN'T BUY BELLTECH". I then told him that that was an excellent suggestion.
Well there you go right from the horses mouth or should I say the horses harse.
What a superb example of customer relations.
Companies like that don't deserve to be in business. I quickly proceeded to cancel my order.
That's the end of that.

Take a camble, buy some, and have them shipped to Todd. You could sell them on the boards for half price or better if they don't work out. Small change for guy who can put more bucks in his rear brakes than most have in their engine mods. :santa:
