Bottom End

hey, thought I'd start yet another thread here, I'm having a blast on here, and thank you all for your info and help. So ok, if I were to put a 4 or a 6lb pulley on my basically stock 2001, with a tune, of course... how is that going to effect the longevity of my bottom end? A lot of people say that the botom ends like to grenade if extra boost is added, and that a 6lb pulley is a NO NO. How true is this, and what is the weak point??..rods, caps, rod bolts, pistons? ..I"ve heard the the crankshaft is very strong, correct me if I'm wrong.?????

A 4 or 6 pound pulley on a stock bottom end is fine as long as you have a good tune. Give Sal a call from Power Surge Performance and he should be able to hook you up. One of the best tuners around! A ported eaton ontop of the 4 or 6 would be even better cause it will lower your intake charge along with some extra ponies. A much safer combo. The crankshaft is very strong ,probably good upto 900 h.p but the rods and pistons arent forged and when pushed with some detonation will break. Just keep a nice tune and you should have many fun miles to come.

depends if you have the strong 99-00 rods or the weaker 01-04 rods.

j/k

you'll be fine. I'm running APTEN ported Eaton and a 6# lower.

Call Sal at PSP he'll hook you up.
