So I got these new shocks today...

I also picked up some insulator nuts and my question is...

Do I reuse the front insulator nuts and use the two new nuts for the rear shocks or do I have this backwards?

Part # is: F65Z-18197-BB

I have a 00L and I'm installing the 03L Shocks.

Below is what I got in the shippment plus two insulator nuts. Do I need four of these nuts?

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
IIRC, YES you can reuse the stock front insulator nuts. Definitely need 2 rear insulator nuts, this link has pictures: http://www.nhtoc.com/forum/showthrea...ilstein+shocks

Yeah I got the two for the rear and was wondering if the fronts are the same part number. I was wondering if the stock fronts actually do fit the new front shocks. I think if I understand this correctly, the new blistiens came with front insolators a while back and thus only the need for the rears. Since mine do not have any as shown in the pic...I'm wondering if i need the fronts.

Thanks,
jim

JIM,
Depending on who you bought the shocks from, they may or may not ship with the proper insulator nuts (looks like you got 2 rears, which is better than most)

My suggestion: buy 2 for the front and have them handy. If the stockers do not fit your new shocks, then you won't have to dash off to FORD.

We just did shocks recently for a few buddies: one had everything (front & rear), we were able to reuse the stockers for another while we had to "MacGyver" a fix for one using Home Depot parts (FORD was closed, the stock nuts were TOO SMALL for his bilsteins)

Thanks for the reply...I just ordered two more insulator nuts from local Dealer. $9.78 with tax. Should be here tomorrow morning. I'm not going to do the install until Sat. morning. All 4 insulators should be the same part number correct?

JIM,
I am almost 100% the top shaft of the rears are "fatter" vs the front, only reason I remembered is we had to switch wrenches/sockets...so might be TOO BIG for the fronts.

I should have asked this question at the very start: do you have Lightning-spec Bilsteins sold by FORD??
1L3Z-18124-AC (front)
1L3Z-18125-AA (rear)
F65Z-18197-BB (rear insulator nut, need two)

L-spec bilsteins bought from a non-Ford store will have a different part number and normally ships with EVERYTHING you'll need (2 front & 2 rear CORRECT insulator nuts).

Or are they supercrew-spec bilsteins??

Thanks for the replies:

Check out this post these are the shocks I purchased. I will now have 4 of the insulator nuts with the part number you just listed.

If you scroll down on the page you will see a reply from someone that works in a Ford Parts dept. I purchased these shocks from the Harley Forumn in a Group Buy. The boxes say 2003 Ford Lightning & Ford Racing.
