60

always a problem at the track with me.

1)it's been proven that 60 ft times is 70% driver 30% vehicle, at least in my case

2)the stock torque convertors in these trucks are all over the place. My best launch is just off idle. Bring the rpms up and it seems to fall on it's face. Other guys launch from 12-1500 all day.

I have personally jumped in quite a few trucks and taken a truck that never had a 1.6x 60' times, and just by launching different getting much better 60' times.
Aint that the truth, i had never gotten my truck into the 1.8's and i have dot's and traction bars. Don jumps in and get's back to back 1.85, 1.86. So for the next two weeks i try and try all diferent approaches, still 1.90, 1.90, 1.90. Maybe it's the 60lb weight difference???

Hell yeah! If I can get a 1.58 out of my Nittos my truck will run a 10.9X on street tires if not damn near close!
I have only made one pass on my truck with the new motor and Nittos. 11.38 with a 1.78 short time. Time for some practice. -Mat-

That's a solid mid 11 second 60 ft time. How come those things stock run, what, high 13's, yet get 11 second 60 fts? Sounds far fetched.

Deep Staging

Hmm, I haven't taken my truck to the track yet cause I just got it, but I have taken a few of my other toys in the past. Here's a little advice that just might help. Just an idea.. DRIVER makes all the difference in the world with 60-foot times, and I know reaction time makes a huge difference as well. Let's say you do all of the suspension mods, get slicks, and STILL bad 60-foots? I'm a believer in Deep Staging, and leaving the light on the 2nd to the last yellow. ...it gives you a little more pavement to get the 5000lbs movin!! The only time I have ever been able to out-Launch an import or lighter car from a stoplight is if I stay behind the crosswalk, let them go up a little, and get the front-end up BEFORE they drop their clutch. Just a little trick I learned from the pros. So what Im sayin, is if your truck hooks-up and goes, just play with it a bit, you'd be surprised what you can gain by changing technique. Point is..these trucks are heavy, and you might have to cheat the system a little ;-) good luck!

I think you mean Shallow Staging or barely lighting the 2nd lights (making them flicker is fun)..

My buddy goes 1.56 or so in his 05 that only runs high 11's.

My friend Jess' 12.5 second camaro went consisten LOW 1.6s. Some cars are just big on the low end. Maybe the 350z was a fluke, I thought the same thing, but my friends insisted they had seen him do it on other days as well as again in another lane that day.

Regardless, the driver comments are obvious. And obviously I'm doing something right on street tire. I'm just not willing to buy a converter and slicks to go mid-high 1.6's when I got 1.7s now on the stock F1s.

You get 1.7's at every track or just one? The worst kept secret is that tracks cheat. A small track near here that closed last year had their 60ft beam at 52ft. Amazing how everyone got their best times there.. I'd love to visit Cecil and do some measurements sometime.

I'd believe that; you go to the track wanting to get good numbers. So, why not "help" the situation.

More than one track, multiple days, different conditions, so forth. I've only run once this year, that was on pretty worn F1's. went a 1.82 on a Friday night test and tune. That was my only pass of the season so far.

uh... no, no, and no. deep staging will hurt your 60'. leaving on the 2nd to last yellow will net you a redlight every time (trust me on that one!). also, reaction time has NOTHING to do with your ET or 60' times. you can have a reaction time of .001 or 10.001 and it doesn't make one bit of difference with regard to your ET. RT is however probably your single most important thing when *bracket* racing.

driver only matters with 60' to a certain extent, most important with stock tires, and yeah with stock tires it is a huge factor even moreso with a high stall converter. With sticky tires it is all about power, converter, track, and suspension.
