I don't know if they will ever get that smell out of it. It's really a shame too. That truck seemed to be running good. Jim ran a mid 10 with the truck on Sunday. Oh well....at least the dude that owns it can get going fast enough to get some air flowing around in the cab. Maybe the smell will clear up after 60 or so passes.

I'm not sure which is more disturbing....... the rules infraction or the reaction to it. After reading the FFW board I'd say it's the above reaction. Not cool at all!!

If the story is as told by Gates and PA I'm fairly baffled to the big deal? I'm sure most of the JDM camp FFW racers, including myself, have used their relationship with FFW officials for a favor, exception etc. Stop the hollier than thou BS already!!

If you caught him using it in eliminations that would be an entirely different situation. None of the 3 version I've read show me that.

The rules state...not any time during the competion. The reaction to it is due to FFW officials originally saying he is out with the loss of his points from that event...and then changing their minds after catching crap from his sponsor.

The rules are the fricking rules. Otherwise it is just street racing.

A side note for you. He is the reason the rule reads like it does. He pulled the same crap 2 years ago. He had the switch hidden in his race jacket. He would plug it in when he got in his truck. When out of his truck, he would tuck the button into his sleave again. The game he is playing is...put a cheating device on your truck. If you get caught...claim you never had it before and you didn't use it in competion.

So....it is not "hollier than thou" anything. Maybe before you get "hollier than thou" and judge every racer in a whole class so harshly, you should do a bit more research. Gosh...I sure wish the judges in Florida would judge child molesters as harshley as you just judges 13 people.

Wow, that's really a shame. I dont understand the big deal. If the rules say you cant do something then you do it period. Why wasnt he just disqualied? Not saying he should be banned but it's just not fair for the people who play by the rules. Where is the fun in that?

Rocks
this is a joke right?
Forget about any damage to the customer's truck, how did he know the ****ters were empty?
Gotta be a joke, a class sponsor wouldn't act that way.

There is more to this story than what is being mentioned here.

If it is true, Jim is an idiot. Two wrongs don't make a right. Rocks is right. What if someone had been injured during his rampage?

can you please clear up the story

To me just having it installed at all puts in question if he had it or any other devices installed at any other events??????????/

Here is a quote from the FFW forum

As a rule I do not read or reply to posts on any forum, but I thought that there should be some clarification as to what really happened this past weekend. Performance Automatic took on the challenge to design a transbrake for the e4od.As with any undertaking a current model vehicle is needed for testing, development and fitup. The Purdum family, along with Mr. Gates allowed us to use their truck for these purposes. In the course of a week PA. had developed a brake that needed further testing that only could be carried out under true track conditions.

Well I have no problems letting David test the trans brake, but a FFW event isn't the place to test the new trans brake out. If they wanted someone to test it, there are lots of other Lightnings that could have tested it. Also the person who is tied for 1st place in the points standings shouldn't be the person testing it.

If they wanted to test the trans brake, install it on a truck at the next NMRA event where such a device is allowed, and legal. Testing it at FFW showed at the very least very poor judgement.

so it was a joke? That's a weird sense of humor, especially in a thread about something as important as alleged rules violations.

I don't know why eveyone is sooooo upset over this information. This kind if stuff happens EVERY DAY...EVERYWHERE...in our lives; be it, our job, our family, our relationships, our HOBBIES.... Rules don't mean squat in the hands of those that would be the enforcers of those rules, if they are weak minded. In this world, everything has become relative to the situation.....NOT BLACK-AND-WHITE. Just trying to bring some reality to the situation.

BS. So if your child breaks the rules in school will you applaude him or scold him? With your logic we might as well live in the wild wild west. Rules are rules. If they are broken punishment should be served and be just for everyone. When you are allowed to bend and break the rules at will the rules become useless.

There tech's are a bunch of smart @$$'$, the main announcer is about as annoying as it gets, and the class rules just plain $uCk.

I might go to one in the future, but it's not very high on the priority list.
Thats about how I feel too.

You missed my point. I mean to state that this crap happens all the time; and for the most part, nothing seems to be done about it because the rule enforcers have outside influences i.e SPONSORS. It looks as if this played out at FFW. Just a pecimistic viewpoint based on previous experiences in living. Rules ARE rules...Punishment SHOULD be served..... In my experience, that seems to be the exception and not the rule.
