He was running a trans brake in clear violation of the rules. He was caught and still allowed to compete in eliminations. FFW really needs to get a handle on how they enforce the rules. I would be super pi$$ed if I was eliminated by someone who was supposed to be disqualified.

So while he was using a illegal part he eliminated other racers, and then was caught and allowed to take it off and continue? And the racers he took out were not allowed to get back in? That is the biggest load of BS i've ever heard of!! Those other racers he eliminated should have protested his being able to go on and them being put out. They should at least been refunded there entry fee.

When does it become cheating ?
When he read the rules and didnt follow them ?
When he teched the truck and no problem was found ?
When he was allowed to compete after it was found ?
When he was allowed to put people out using parts that may have been against the rules ?
When nothing was done for the folks he put out ?
When he was awarded points for using parts that were known to be in violation ?

My point here is that the issue is with FFW - They only seem interested in raising the entry fees - they dont spend much time teching people. No money for them in tech inspections..

While Im on a rant they seem to enjoy making it harder and harder for a photographer and webmaster help promote thier events.

The moment he got caught! He should have been disqualified at that point and not allowed to continue any further!

As the sponser of the class FFW assured me that I would be told of any rule changes. Two years ago the rules stated no transbrakes. 2003, David Gates had won in his ranger at the same Norwalk event with a transbrake. Which FFW still allowed him to run the event with just unplugging it. Then he went to Cordova with the same truck and transbrake which he was told at the Norwalk event, he had to completley remove it from the truck. Again they just told him to unplug it. Now its 2005 Norwalk, he shows up at the track with a transbrake in his Lightning. The rules for 2005 clearly state NO Transbrake in your vehicle at any time during the event. This means the minute he purchased his race ticket, he was illegal. FFW came over to me and said that he was out. Sunday morning after he had qualified with the transbrake and supposedly removed it saturday night, he was racing. I knew he did not remove it because the Valve body he showed everybody that he was going to swap for the transbrake body, was not a 4R100 valvebody. It was an AODE valvebody. So i kept quite untill after the event because I knew I was going to protest his truck, put up the $500 and have him remove his transpan. After he won Final round using the transbrake and cutting a .007 light I went up to George Klass and told him I wanted to put up the money and protest. He refussed. If they Dont remove all of David Gates points for this event, I will not race in the Tough Truck Class and I will not be the Sponsor of the Class next year. This is his 3rd Offense with a Transbrake. Lord knows I have backed up FFW on all of their decissions, I can not on this one.

Agreed.. the fact that you know the rules, showed up at the track, and decided to run an illegal item (trans brake) is cheating in my book.

I would love to see what would happen if someone else got caught using a trans brake... would they give the same warning or disqualify the person?
