The same amount of friction is present in both systems on a given grade. The system with the larger heatsink (fluid) will stay cooler. I would be much more concerned with max temp reached and maintained. If your truly worried add a cooler also (more fins.... more volume... bigger pan.... more volume... get it)
Besides... I don't do much coasting.... thats for kids and bicycles.
I dont want this to turn into an arguement, but I always wondered this. What I meant about the whole get it hot and it wont cool faster is what you said about max temp reached and maintained. If 9 quarts heat to 250 deg and 6 quarts heat to 250 deg, 6 quarts will cool faster than 9. Thats sitting in the pits after a run or two. But I understand the initial heating will be slower will more fluid. But when it gets hot enough to do damage more fluid will maintain that temp longer. Correct?

As for the Moroso pan, that looks like it spreads out the fuild as in the 4x4 just drops the middle down, which concerns me and my lowered truck.

Pan lowest part of truck.

I think the Moroso is the best choice. It is a larger pan, side drain plug and it doesn't hang lower than the cross member. I have one and it is an easy install.

What are you using it for, a salad bowl?
