neutral revs at track

i have never done neutral revs at the track prior to staging b/c i really haven't understood the purpose. so it appears there are at least two benefits to doing so:

1) Decrease IAT (idle air temps) by approx 20*. This more accurately reflects the ambient air temps right off the launch, that you'll be seeing when further down the track regardless.

2) Promotes fluid flow through the tranny.

Anything else, pros or cons? And with regard to number 2, would this affect the RPM at which the converter flashes/locks/stalls ? I am convinced my slow 60' times with Hoosiers are a result of my truck having a low stall speed, perhaps lower than most stock lightnings. I am on the stock converter, BTW.

WOuld like to hear anyone's thoughts on the neutral rev subject. Thanks

I have heard it works, but I am allways so focused after I do my burnout, I have forgott to try.

I would think it just clears the hot air out of the intake
