If plans hold, we will be in the "area" September 2-9th. Maybe I'll stop by for a dyno at all of the "big 3" I haven't been east of Indiana for 18 years (besides Florida), so I might as well make the most of it.

Ahem. I got my ideas from consulting with Dale (bad_as_L), so it was all his fault.

Frank's retired. He does occasional work as a flowbench compressor, now powered by a small 1.5L KIA car motor. :santa:

What I don't understand

is why is the Magnum already being considered a waste of money?? Yeah, posts like.....oh you saved me money.........or comparing cost of magnum vs ported eaton.

What I see is 1 guy is having trouble making numbers with the blower here. The reason has yet to be determined but what Charles is saying makes sense.

Alot of guys who made the mistake of buying a Magnum, when looking for numbers of what comes out of a KB had written the Magnum off.......even though it's not an apples to apples comparison.

I've seen dynos first hand of ported eaton vs magnum dyno sheets back to back on the same truck.

What i saw is similar to what Sal and Rob came up with. In the 4000k and up range the magnum kept pullings. The only difference is I never saw the drop off in the lower rpm.

Is there any way to take that Magnum that was on Robs truck and put it on another truck that is running a ported eaton and see what the difference was. Wouldn't that give you an idea if it's the blower or the motor???

I hope everything works out.

By the way.......I'm running a Wasp port!!!

3 STL/KC owners have/had Magnums, none got the results expected. And none of us expected it to be a KB. I was looking to improve my 425 hp to 450-460. Another built block/ported heads guy was looking to go from 490 to 525ish. These were not "KB" dreams on a budget. This is what we were told was possible. For every success story there is a story of little to no gain. Do you think Charles would be producing a spring replacement tool if he didn't recognize that this is more than 1 guy having trouble?
