LOVE the coil pack screw mod, hate the...

... price and thickness of the screws. Took me awhile, but I finally came up with sleek screws that I could polish to a mirror. These are all ss and aluminum, except for the flange nut on the bottom of the bolt which you will never see.

(8) Socket Bolts - 5mm x 0.8 / 20mm long
(8) Socket Set Screws - 5mm or 10-32 / 1-1/4 long, (1.5 inches would be perfect)
(8) Flange Nuts - 5mm

- make sure to Loctite the set screws.

The aluminum tube is from Ace Hardare, just bring the screws with your and match it up to the proper tube. You will need a tap to install the bolts and set screws. It should cost around $35 to make a set.

I like using www.BoltDepot.com for fastners.

10-32 and 5mm are almost the same.

Ideally everything should be 5mm x 0.8, I could'nt find set screw long enough in 5mm so had to go to 10-32. I am still on the hunt for longer 5mm set screws.

I am wondering the same thing.

So you drill and tap the alluminum or stainless tubing and thread the bolt in one end and the set screw with the flanged nut into the other?
I need to build a set ASAP.

What length are you cutting the tubing also?

Couldn't you use a 5 mm bolt, cut off the head, and grind a slot in the end for a screw driver? I'm guessing those set screws are the most expensive part of the project.

I'm going to the bolt store again tomorrow to get the longer set screws in 5mm.
The set screws are cheap at .60 apiece.

Couldn't you use a 5 mm bolt, cut off the head, and grind a slot in the end for a screw driver?
My moto is "Do it right or don't do it at all". You need a set screw, nothing else will work PROPERLY.

So you drill and tap the alluminum or stainless tubing and thread the bolt in one end and the set screw with the flanged nut into the other?
Yes, you just tap both sides of the alluminum tube, there is no drilling required if you buy the correct diameter tube from ACE Hardware.

what about the one under the fuel pressure reg
Do I have to figure everything out? Hell, just make a smaller bolt for that one. Or do a search online for flexible thread shafts, I can't find jack when I do the search.

I spent a lot of time doing what you are doing and I'll make these comments.

I never apologize for my prices, but in order to do it right, you need custom or special parts. The screws are M5 x 0.8 thread.

They'll be a bear to get started in the holes properly without the plain tip on the end of the threads.

As LightningMike said, the one under the Fuel Pressure Regulator is the most important one.

When all is said and done, you spend $35.00 for materials, probably two hours making them, suddenly the price doesn't seem so bad??
