Intermittent problem driving me insane....

Well, as some of you know I've had some issues with timing chain tensioners. So I replaced the drivers side tensioner and the noise went away for about and hour. Later replaced the drivers side tensioner and cassette (chain guide) which got rid of the sounds for about a week.

Here I am a week later and the noise is back. The gears aren't damaged, the chain is not damaged, why in the world are my tensioners failing so quickly?

I'm leaning toward a possible oil pressure problem on that side, maybe there is a blockage of some sort. Anyone have any suggestions to remedy this problem?

Thanks in Advance,
Ed

Buy a cheap mechanical oil pressure guage at a local parts house. Hook it up where your current sending unit is and get an oil pressure reading. You did remove the lockback pins from the new tensioners right?

Yes. Removed them.

I'd be somewhat surprised if it was an oil pressure issue, I would think the head would be making noise as well. Also, I tried a heavier oil and still no success.

Has anyone ever had a timing chain go bad, or a link in the chain seize up?
