Will a 04, 12 person van tranny replace my 01 L tranny? I know it won't last but it will buy me a little time to save for the MB. Thanks.

 

I don't think so. It is possible that it may have a 4R100, but only if it's a deisel and the case is different. It is possible that if it's gas, it could have a 4R100, but even then you'd have to change the cooler bypass (easy enough), the coverter (ditto) and the internals would be the aluminum planets etc... and they wouldn't last too long. It also would have less clutches in the OD clutch, no biggie, but this stuff starts to stack up.

It would be a decent candidate for a MIAB kit with a few upgrades that would tag a few hundred at most on (the planets etc...)
