Hi Guys,

This is the first time I've changed the oil in the "L".
6 Qts of Mobil 1 5-30 and a Purolator Filter
Ran the motor a few minutes to check for leaks then waited I while after and checked the level. It justs making the "min" on the dipstick. Allmost where you would think about adding some.
Is this normal ????

 

Stick with what you put in. Just make a mental note where full is or scribe the dipstick.

 

let it sit for a bit and you should reach half mark on the dipstick hashes. If you want it to read completely full, you would need to add 6.3-6.5 qts. 6 qts max on these trucks

 

Don't overfill (takes 6 qts with the filter) regardless of where it shows on the dipstick as previously mentioned!! When I change mine, it's will register about in the middle of of the hashmarks on the dipstick. Others in here report somewhat different locations when full. As suggested you can make a mark on the dipsticck for future reference.
