Lowering Shackles: a question

I have a '02 and I want to level it out so I am contemplating installing 2" lowering shackles in the rear. My question to those of you that might have done this is it absolutely neccessary to install pinion shims if you install a 2" drop? Thanx for any help.

You should measure and appropiately shim the rear for sure.

A set of 2" shackles won't level it out though. I bought the 2-4" drop shackles from Johnny Lightning and I used the 3" setting to level mine. The 2" didn't look like it dropped it at all.
