Smile First dyno test

The L went to the dyno today....here's the results:

Mustang Dyno -
Max HP: 395.3 @ 5216 RPM
Max Torque: 412.6 @ 4958 RPM
A/F at Max HP: 11.9

The A/F ratio was steadily in the low 12's until around 5000 RPM, then it dropped quickly into the high 11's.

Dont know if this is really anything to be happy with, but since it was a Mustang dyno I figured that it could have been worse...

Opinions? How do the numbers look to you all? Anybody have an idea of what my 1/4 should be looking like?

BTW - the temp was 97 degrees with a humidity of 59%.

The heat certainly killed you. What mods do you have? Torque number seems a bit low for the HP.

So far, I have a 6# lower, FTVB, CAI, SBTB, Bassani catback, and Predator tune (not to mention billet idler pulleys/bracket).

The truck was also running a little warm, due to the distance i had to drive to the shop...

yea those torque numbers seem really low. i only have chip, air raid, x-pipe and my numbers were 360rwhp and 407ft lbs it was 87 degrees outside that 6# should have put them way up but maybe im wrong, thats seems strange to me (i would imagine the torque would be near 500+) hp looks right though

Do you have a pic of the graph? Post it! What rpm did they start recording at?

I've read some interesting tuning isses lately.

Seems that more timing and fuel at initial tip in will help increase TQ. Many stock block users see higher #'s when they run the 60# injectors. There's more tunability with them.

Brahmus - Yes, i have a graph of the dyno....just dont have access to a scanner right now. The printout starts the RPMs out at 3193.004., 160 HP, and 264.265 ft/lbs.

Had to roll into it (though it was fairly quick). Had issues with it hopping on the dyno....

I was wondering the same thing, but was also wondering more about the fact that the weather and the heat from driving it @ highway speeds wouldnt have had some impact as well - we let it cool first, but it was still warm when we tested it. Thought about putting an axle strap on it to resolve the hopping, but that would have had an impact on the HP reading...

Basically it all depends on how the dyno is setup. Mustang dyno's have a very unique load setup and are actually great for tuning if they are setup right taking into account weight and air drag to simulate real street driving or track passes.

But, if you are looking for numbers to compare to everybody else then they are just about worthless numbers.
