What brand of ring and pinion?

I've found good prices on a set of 4.10s. I almost bought them from a supporting vender at a 100-150 dollar loss. I'm glad I checked that.

Here are the brands I'm looking at:

Accu Value, Motive, and Precision.
Yukon has a set of 4.11s for the 9.75

Any reason not to go with the cheapest one here; or, is there a preference based on higher quality materials?

Cant figure out how to PM ya........ Just wondering who sells 'em?

If I keep the L I was going to go with 4:10's too, but was surprised at how much they cost.

Back in my F-Body camaro days (00-03), gears were like not much more than a hundred bucks.......

pretty sure they the GM 7.5" 10bolt F-body gears were about $180, since I bought two sets of 4.10s i busted my richmonds pretty bad in my Z28 and went with the Genuine Motive (Italian made I think, everyone called them GM gears but they had nothing to do with General Motors) gears, and the Motives had a much nicer cut on them and did not whine nearly as much. this was the general consensus on those rears, Richmond bad/Motive good.

so based on my experience there, and it may not really apply, but personally I would feel pretty good about the Motives.

You have your e-mail turned off; but, it would be easy for you to find reasonable priced gears by doing an AOL or Google search for...

motive gears 4.10:1 9.75

NOISE is the reason. If you buy a cheaper set plan on having a whine in them even if they are set up rite.I just did a set of 3.73 got a good price on them [I thought!]and they whine called the vendor and he said they will break in and the noise will go away.I have been setting up gears for 20 years and this will be a first!!Spend the extra 100 bucks on a good set and be glad you did.Stan
PS I have a set of new 4.10s that are yukon and will part with them for 250.00 bought them for mine and went with an IRS system I made instead.

Thanks for the reply Stan. I'm not trying to cheap out here. I was just surprised at the price discrepency I found when I started looking around for gears. For instance, I can get Motive gears from about $180.00-$215.00. Precision for $285.00. Yukon 4.11s for $247.00 brand spanking new.

The vendors are selling them at $350.00-$399.00 depending on where you buy. The Motives are supposed to be no less of a quality gear than the ones Ford Racing sells at $240.00.

As far as quality, what do you recommend, price not being an issue. That's all I'm really interested in. I'll find a good deal. What brand was making all the racket on your truck?

look at what you plan on doing with the truck.IE drag race it mainly or street drive it.Motive are a in the middle as for hardness so they should last 50k before they start to whine or show wear.Yukon and factory ford gears are designed to last the life of the vehicle so they are harder and will last well past 100k richmond are more of a drag gear so plan on about 20k before you start to have wear problems.Naturally all of this is dependent on how you drive.sTan

I've got over 170,000KMS on mine with NO whear and NO whine at all. They have takin a ton of abuse and punishment and have takin it all and begged for more! LOL!

I've been leaning toward either the Precision or the Yukon gears. Good testimonial. I know you put your truck to the test.
