consistency with race tires?
Just wondering if the consistency of your ETs improved and by how much by going from stock F1s to a race tire, specifically ET Streets or Hoosier QTPs. I have to run DOT tires so I am pretty set on getting some ET Streets.
I finished in the money for the 1st time on my 3rd ever time running DOT... 3rd place out of 28 car field which brought home $200--yay! But I am having a little trouble with my dial-ins (and RT but that's another story!). My launches are pretty consistent (usually a 1.95-1.98 with a best of 1.91). I ran several 1.97s on Sat at the event. But I think occasionally I am getting a bad spin when I hit 2nd which kills my ET. And you know every hundredth or even thousandth counts!!

If your racing other Lightnings, you have a chance. If not you dont have a chance. Any vehical with a power adder is worthless against a bracket car. Big or smallblock NA w/ powerglide is the ticket. I sold my L because of that reason.(looking at X-pro-stock Ranger). Ed
well, i'm not looking to go pro or anything
but if I can get my RTs down and be somewhat close on my dial-in, like within .02 most of the time I'd be happy. right now i have those occassional breakouts or slug runs for no apparent reason. maybe get lucky every now and then against the n/a mustang buys pulling the wheels and cutting .00x lights. i'm getting the feeling that most the Lightning community doesn't do much competitive bracket racing, just the see how fast it will go racing
of course, like you say there's probably a good reason for that.

I bracket race regularly,i do as amny of the fun ford events as i could and do some of the bracket events at my home track. Now would a slick or drag radial tire help, over a street tire(f-1)yes it would deffinately help.as for staying within .02 of a sec,as well ax a tire may work the knowledge of your truck is what decides times like that. You have to be able to take itont concideration track conditition, truck temp, and air temp.Even the best tires cant beat the knowledge of your own truck. But besides all that,a good drag tire would help make dialing your truck easier.
