What's My L worth??

My friend got me a 2002 true blue L with 30k on the clock. The engine & tranmission we're removed by theives but all the wiring to them was un-hooked, not cut. The only thing it needs is the actual engine and transmission.

Any ideas of what it's worth would be great.

Thanks,
Tony

not sure on the value maybe 15k, but how does someone take a engine and trans out of the truck without anyone knowing about it?

Sounds fishy doesen't it? Maybe the theives we're targeting L's just for the 5.4, eaton, & 4r100.

Ummmm 15k what.... Dollars?

There's a 2002 blue Lightning with about 30k something miles for $17,500 in the Far north LA area. Oh yes engine, ecu and transmission included and installed.

The way that truck sits now, it's just a stripped F150.

I'd say it's worth to me (As I slip into my flamesuit) is about $3000, if it's perfect and that would be to right buyer.

2002 with that milage i would say 19-20k with motor and trans in good cond. complete brand new motor s/c to pan stock from ford /ballpark say 8k . then a monster box 2500 . ball park 11k for new stock drivetrain. i not talking used .but i would take off the 11k and offer 9k. not including your time to put it all together.if you have someone else do it add 1500/2k for that instal. if you go used and do all the work yourself about half that .

A monster box is $3000 with a core ($1700 new) + shipping so that's more like $5000 in my book, and what about the ECU and belts, and whatnots tore off +$4000 (I can't see them removing the engine without tearing up the rads for instance), I have no idea what the engine goes for from ford, but I thought carkraft had them for $3700 at one time.

A stripped Lightning is just a stripped f150 with some "special" seats/wheels, so I don't know where this $9000 range comes into play, I'm still saying $3000 if it's perfect?

IMO it's just cheaper to get a rolling 99-00 for a lot less, or at the other end of the spectrum is just to re-read my above post.

Edit: now that I thought about it, I'd just part it out for maximum $$$$
