Was bored ..So..

I figured I'd solve my spinning tire on the wheel (7 inches so far) problem. Usually after a couple passes the tire would set . But I guess at this power level set screws were inevitable

Start w/ demounted Wheel

Make template (4 sides, It saved a ton of time)

1/4 inch punch

Used Steel screws on aluminum wheels to make a nice tap

Vin Man, may sound like a dumb question but what do you use to keep the air from leaking back out?

Peace,
Suavy

If I have an issue I am sure a dab of silicone should solve it.

I have seen the srew's many times but always had a hard time wondering why they didn't leak?

Thanks Vin,

Hey my engine is due back any day. The finished day was supposed to be this last Friday. I'm not rushing it I just want it to stay together and get out and do some racing!

Peace,

Suavy

I had mine screwed to my Hoosiers on my L. I did it a little different in that I drilled right into the bead of the slick and installed the screws as I went. I had absolutley no leakage..

The pressure on the bead prevents the leak.

You might want to use what is called TEK Screws. They have a small drill bit tip on them. So if you pre/drill the rim first with a bit the same size as the tip, than the screw will cut a thread in the rim and the point will hold the bead in place the plus is they also have a flang edge that acts like a lock washer. Been using them for a long time and they work very well. Hope this might be of some help. Artie

those screws looks to be pretty big and long.... all the ones I've seen (pkgs you can buy for this) have been small, shorter screws. They should just penetrate the bead, maybe an 1/8th of an inch. Don't want to put the screw all the way through the bead, that would be bad.
