how long did it take you to find ur lightning??
hey guys just wondering how long it took u to find ur lightings. ive been searching for around a month now and not much. i find some but they are overpirced or to many miles. were u picky with ur colors or took what was availble. the dealers arent helpfull becasue they dont know when they will get one then by the time i find out they got one they sold it already or its way to much $$. just want some feedback. im getting annoyed. also where did u look or do- classifieds ebay autotrader and things like that..call dealers
well it depends on the year and miles and if its a private sale or froma dealer. does it have a warranty. its hard to tell but u know like a 2001 with 35,000 miles for 26,000...maybe a bad example but u gotta know what i mean
I called and talked to the guy, he said he didn't want to sell, I gave him my number and told him to call me when he was. about 2 months later he called.
I got it with under 3000 miles (3,000, not 30,000) for $17,000. still smelled new

Didn't take me long to find mine, though I had to wait for delivery of my order.

ah man u guys are lucky... i go to the dealer and they just like sorry we just get them in as trade ins..nothing we can do..just call us every once in a while...they saud they go in like 2-3 days... this is annoying but i think the wait will be worth it..thanks for the repies
Went to the two local SVT dealers in Aug of 02
Was laughed at by both when I asked if they had any in stock
Was put on a waiting list in both dealerships
Was told I CAN NOT have choice of color
(and this is when they were still in production. "I wanted Red")
Got a call on March 1st,
Salesman drove to my work
Threw me the keys, and said go ahead take it for a ride (HE DID NOT COME)
I grabbed a friend in my office, got in it, made a right out of my parking lot, and put it to the floor.
Went two blocks to the expressway, made a right, stopped dead, power braked the ever living schitt out of it, and took off sideways
DAM REV LIMITER AND FUEL CUT OFF @($^%@$%@$(@$%(@^$$
Got on the expressway and took it up to @ 120 MPH, did a few exits
got on the reverse service road, stopped dead, did another Power Brake
DAM REV LIMITER AND FUEL CUT OFF @#$%@($%@$(@%$(&%$
Brought it up to well over a hundred again, came back and bought it.
When I showed up the next day to pick up my Black Lightning, me and the Salesman got our asses reamed by the Dealership MGR for leaving rubber all over SOMEONE ELSES TRUCK
THAT LIGHTNING WAS ALREADY SOLD AND HE DIDNT KNOW IT, hehehehehehehehe
IS THAT THE GUY THAT BEAT THE SCHITT OUT OF SOMEONE ELSES TRUCK
YUP THATS ME, now find me another by tomorrow OR THE DEALS OFF.
They bought one from out of State, hired a retired Policeman and Wife to drive it to NY (had 320 miles when they got here) I WAS WAITING WHEN IT PULLED UP.
I REFUSED TO LEAVE IT
(didnt want any a$$hole driving MY Lightning, hehehehehe)
Refused to let them detail it, did the paper work, and lived happily ever after..
OH YA, got rid of the Rev Limiter and Fuel Shut off IMMEDIATELY

I'd been looking around for several months for something to replace my 13-year-old Probe GT. With almost 120k miles on the odometer, the Probe still looked and ran like new. But, it had some mechanical issues which I knew would be coming up in the near future. As much as I loved the car -- and still wish I could have afforded to keep it -- I was tired of working on it.
I came very close to buying a MINI Cooper S, believe it or not. A test drive almost convinced me. The only problem was that the nearest dealer was over an hour away. Although I knew about Lightnings (and learned to drive in a full-size pickup), I hadn't seen one in a color I really liked.
Then one day in early May, 2003, when I went to my local Ford dealer to get an oil filter for my wife's Sport Trac, there was this beautiful DSG L sitting right out front. As soon as I saw it, I knew the Probe was history. About three days later, I just "happened" to drive by the same dealership with my wife in the car. I was praying that the DSG L was still there -- and it was! We first test drove an '02 T-Bird, because my wife liked it (neither of us liked it after the test drive, though!), and then the L. The salesman warned me, "This thing is a beast! It's really loud!" He was right on the first count (I didn't think it was excessively loud, but then, I've owned some really loud cars).
Two days later, I advertised the Probe on AutoTrader.com (sold it within a week for the asking price) and brought the L home the same day. So altogether, it was about five days from the time I first saw the L to the time I brought it home.

About 5 months... I almost gave up on finding a sonic blue L and almost bought a used DSG L, but then I finally found a new sonic blue 04 and got it shipped to Jersey from NY. Buying this truck was one of my biggest mistakes ever but I don't regret it!
I wanted a Lightning when I first saw them in 1999 but I was a newlywed and couldn't afford it at the time.
I started looking in 2004 and it took me 6-8 months to find my Lightning. I wanted a good used truck with low miles, adult owned, non smoker, no dings or scratches, and no mods. I finally found mine and loved it but I didn't really want another red truck. (My last truck was red and I wanted something different.) I bought it anyway because it was just to good of a deal to pass up.
I just bought a 1999 Ranger and my L is a garage queen now. It still has low miles and no dent or dings but the mod but bit me a few months ago.
