I know it didn't cost HP

Well I got it from Ruslow when he was practically giving them away. I figured it couldn't hurt (at least I hope not).

I went to the track, and ran a tenth faster than I ever had before. The only change was the spacer. Not scientific results, but enough for me to know that it wasn't a complete waste of 25 dollars.

I bought one too. After a year of sitting in my desk I finally tried to put it on and one hole was drilled off so it bunched the gasket. Needless to say it went in the ***** can.

Yep, there is a reason he dumped them cheap - poor quality. I had to modify mine too since the holes were slightly off. I don't think he ever answered my comments on NLOC either when I brought up things. Oh well.

If the engine compartment is hot (which it is), then I don't see how the spacer makes much difference. The other thing is, cooler air constantly going through the plenum will keep it cooler anyways, so again.....

Probably sitting with the hood open is where the plenum helps the most, as it does not soak up as much heat from the S/C.

Who knows for sure?

Yea, The first one sent was lost in the mail. When I buy something I expect it to fit without modification. Pretty expensive gasket........

One point that wasn't mentioned is with the additional space between the plenum and the blower, the blower cools off sooner between rounds.

Uh, I'd need some solid proof on that one - that makes the least amount of sense of any plenum theory. The blower is still attached to the engine right, but spacing the plenum away cools it down?

[QUOTE=AMP]I've searched this before, and a lot of other folks believe that it could restrict the plenum from aiding as a heat sink for the blower.

personally, I don't know. (and I don't have one)[/QUOTE

I don't believe that at all..The spacer does keep the intake plenum cooler, but the real benefit comes from the added height of the plenum which "straightens" the incoming airflow resulting in increased volume (not boost). JDM explained that the "slant" on the rear of the factory plenum , put there for firewall clearance, causes slight turbulance that the spacer helps resolve.Makes perfect sense to me.

You got it.

I can't give you the "Solid Proof " that you asked for, but I can share my experience.
Try it......You'll see

My expeience with a phenolic spacer was just the opposite. My blower ran considerable hotter with the spacer installed. So hot, it eventually siezed at the track.

My theory is the upper plenum acts as a heat sink for the supercharger. With the phenolic spacer installed, my supercharger ran considerably hotter.

Just my experience.

^^^ He's not the first person to say that's what happened to them. I won't be running one.

I did try. Actually, the spacer is still on my truck. I know the blower doesn't cool down any faster. The thing that helps me most at that track is running my e-fan between runs.
