Finally put the Rotors on!

Well I got a day off the other day and finally got to put my new rotors and pads on. They are the same ones everyone has been getting from rotorpros, I also went with some new Hawk HPS pads.

My old rotors had been warped from using the Ceramix pads I think. I almost forgot what it was like to slow the truck down without the whole truck shaking. Stopping power is much better to say the least. These things have alot more bite then the stock pads and rotors. Overall, I am very pleased with this combo. There does seem to be alot more brake dust with these pads, but I will deal with it if they don't warp the rotors...

On a side note, I finally tried to install the clunk washers but could not get the bolt hole to line up properly to get the bolt back in place. So after I wasted a half hour messing with it, I had to put the stock washers back in place. Now my alignment is all screwed up again
Any suggestions for getting these in? Do I have to loosen both front and rear bolts of the lower control arm in order to move it around? I had me and another big guy prying and pulling to try and get the control arm to pull out about a 1/4" but it would not budge?

Thanks guys,

Jon

Looks good. Outstanding job on the brakes and the truck overall. I like to see the old 99s maintained and looking new. I am about on the brink of getting new brakes and will go the same route as you. Thanks for the pictures.

Very Nice!!
I just purchased a set from Rotorpros as well but have not had any time to put them on. I going to put them on my 03 Harley. The brakes on the 03 suck big time.

How was install on the rotors? Can someone like me who had never done it accomplish this? Is there a walk thru on this install?

Thanks

Go ahead and loosen both bolts -- why not? You will need a new alignment anyway.

clunk washers

I just took the nuts loose and the washers went right into the oblong holes and reinstalled the nuts and then drove the truck down to have the alignment ck as it was done a month or so before i installed the clunk washers the alignment was dead on same as when it was done. guess i was just lucky.

Those rotors look real sweet! I hope to have some on when I get my next brake job.

I had never done rotors or brakes before this. I had a buddy of mine help me who has done many brake and rotor changes on mustangs. This was a little different but we are both mechanically inclined so it was pretty easy to figure out. Honestly, I think this whole job was easier than my pulley and electric fan job. I was worried about it just because i've never done it before but its pretty simple. Would have taken about 2 hours to complete the whole job, but I also had to wait for paint to dry from repainting the calipers.

email me if you got any questions, i'm no expert but its fresh in my mind, I can help you along with the process and what you'll need.
