Need your opinions please
I installed TR6's (Gapped @ 0.038) the other day and my truck seem to idle better and perform just as well as it did with the stock plugs.
Yesterday after I installed a set of Nitto 555R's (305-45-18's) I started to notice that the truck doesn't seem to have the same punch as I'm used to feeling. When I had the F1's on the truck it would just blow the tires off. Now it will barely spin the Nittos.
I have also noticed when I go WOT at 60 it doesn't seem to have the same acceleration it had. Could the slightly bigger tires have this type of affect or do you think that it could be the plugs or maybe a combo of both. I will say that the Nittos just hook off of the line which I really like. They are absolutley unbelievable! I am thinking of going back to the stock plugs but before I go through that again I would like your opinions. Hell it may all be in my head.
My mods are 4lber, program and truk tracks.
Thanks in advance for your responses.

you've got stickier tires on there now.it's not your tires, they're wider, not taller (maybe a minute difference but you're not going to feel it on a 5,000 lb truck). your butt-o-meter is not a good way to test anything. the track or a dyno under similar before/after conditions is the only way to test.. or datalogging. don't go to the stock plugs with a 4 lber. drive it a while til you're SURE there is a problem or not, then go from there. i bet it's all in your head!

Personally I hated TR-6's and Yes there is a very good possibility the Diff you feel is a result of the TR-6's. I hated mine from the second I put them in, (my truck was also slower), TG I toasted them in 500 miles because when I put Denso IT-22's in, the power and ET got better, and got 3 flawless seasons out of them.
Right now I am using NGK's once again on the built motor, and I cant tell you how frucking much I hated these things, (BR-7's) THERE IS NO COMPARISON WITH DENSO's, and I will most likely switch back to them once again.
BTW, I also toasted 3 of these at exactly 500 miles on this motor. (and my AF was pig rich and dyno tuned) Even with a brand new set in there now,
it idles and has little misses at low RPM, I frigging hate them.
DENSO'S ROCK!!!
before everyone attacks me
YES I KNOW 98% of the L's run on NGK's, and YES I KNOW most run perfect on them, "BUT" once in a while YOU WILL find a L that hates them, and that is clearly mine.........

Thanks for your input Rob. I have a feeling that my truck isn't the same with the new plugs. Like Slick_Sammy said the butt-o-meter isn't a good way to test anything. Since I'm going to visit my Sis this weekend I will take it the little 1/8th mile track in Abilene and see what it runs.
Yea Clay they are drag radials and good gawd these things hook like crazy. I love these friggin tires!!! I doubt I will ever get F1's again but of course I haven't driven in the rain on them yet either. It's suppose to be raining off and on back home this weekend. If I get to drive in the rain with them I will let you know how that goes.

Abilene ....damm Todd thats a long way in the L....You'll have to fill up 3 times each way as hard as you drive
, Gas prices are down a bit here in SA, I just filled up the GMC for 1.88 at a Chevron.
Those DR's are a bit taller than your F1's , 28.81 diameter vs. 28.45 so you may be noticing that slight difference which proves some of us have finely tuned calibrated butt meters...... I was thinking of trying the DR's. I hate getting beat out of the hole from a light
I'll be interested to see how the tires are wearing next time you come by SA....or we meet up at the track. Keep track of the miles you put on them

Here is something you may find interesting: I was gonna have them heat cycled by Discount Tire for $15.00 each but Discount told me that Nitto did not recommend it. Well you know me, I had to call Nitto. The Nitto rep said that if I have them heat cycled and use them for daily driving, there is a chance that the tire may start "throwing chunks" (his words) when driving down the road.
They couldn't give me a reason other than "we don't recommend it" so I didn't have them heat cycled. Also I couldn't stand it, I had to go back to the stock plugs. I'm very happy I did. It definitely made a difference. I still can't toast the Nittos but I can spin them a little and When I nail it at 60 there is a night and day difference from the NGK's. Maybe the NGK's need be gapped bigger than 0.038 or maybe it's just because the stock plug is a hotter plug. I think the reason I can run the hotter plug without any problem is the ICEE chiller system keeps the IC coolant so cold but I'm not for sure. We will see how it goes with the stock plugs
Also, the NGK Iridium TR(6,7,8)IX are as good as the Denso's. I've had them in for close to a year now, several outings at the track, mucho street scuffles and they still run as good as new.
As for heat cycling, I feel it is a "placebo" procedure to extract extra $$$ out of you for nothing. Tires naturally get hot during use, and cool off when parked. The rubber is going to do, what it's going to do. I seriously doubt heat cycling, or not would show up in your 60 foot times. I'll let my vehicle "heat cycle" my tires.
