Thumbs up Pleasant surprise after plug change

I have been running a 4lber with a Troyer Tune via a 1715 Micro Tuner (Thanks to Clay) since about 29,000 miles. I drive my truck very hard so I figured I had better get off my lazy azz and change the plugs before something bad happens. I have to admit I kept putting it off because the driver side looks extremely intimidating!

So this morning I changed the plugs. Installed NGK-TR6V's gapped at 0.038. took me a couple of hours and it wasn't near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Went ahead and changed the oil and fuel filter while I was at it. For you guys that are hesitant to change the plugs...set asside a couple of hours, make sure you have the correct tools and just take your time. I am mechanically challenged so if I can do it anyone can do it.

I checked the gap on the original plugs and all but 3 were gapped @ 0.045. The other 3 were gapped @ 0.046, 0.047 and 0.049. Ford specs 0.042 - 0.046 so all but 2 were in the ballpark. The truck runs and idles much better now.

The original plugs are @ 38,130 miles and almost 10,000 of these miles were with a 4lber, tune, CAI and driven like it was stolen. I really thought the plugs would look worse than they did but I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe my chiller had something to do with how good the plugs look, maybe it's the tune by Troyer or maybe a little bit of both. Just speculation on my part.

Below are the photos. I numbered them from front to back because I don't know the cylinder numbers.

Uhh some of those Spark plugs (White tips) look like you are running lean to me. I'm no expert though.

They do look a little lean thats why I was surprised that there was no damage to the plugs...thank goodness.

Max that's a good question. My understanding was the tune on the 1715 was by Troyer but I may have completley misunderstood. I will definitely find out.

Thanks IBR8K4VETTS!!!!
