Autobahn tonight - Top Speed of my Lightning ! + Porsche

Hello !

this evening i had one of my best rides with my Lightning! Yesterday i installed my Gauges (Pictures will follow) and today i was going on the Autobahn 2 hours ago (9pm here in germany).
The Autobahn was really empty and it was great to drive on it !

2 times i had a really fast contact with a Porsche. The first was a CARRERA S and the second was a........... to fast..... i will tell....

The first Porsche i saw in front of me on the left lane of 3 lanes. He was waiting for 2 cars in front of him to go to the middle lane to pass them.

I hit the gas and was directly behind him and was waiting for the 2 other cars moving too.

The speed of us this time was about 90 mph.

After the two cars in front of us moved to the middle lane we both hit the gas.

Till 130 mls there wasn´t a difference in acceleration. Than he starts going away faster and faster till a speed limit comes
I passed him and he droves behind me for about 10 minutes.

Yes, the Porsche is an Autobahn Car!

-----

I changed to another Autobahn because of there are no speed limits and i want to know the Top Speed with my new "Mods".

Someone remeber my Autobahn Video, was stock with only Mac Cat Back.

Now i got

CAI Mac MotoBlue
95mm Mass Air
FRPP Lowering
A.R.E. Hard Tonneau Cover

This evening was perfect to test it:

46° Fahrenheit, Dry weather.

The other Autobahn was "empty" too ! What a luck !! That really
not happends often.

I hit the gas and saw on my GPS Navigation a Top Speed of 257 km/h thats a little more than 159 mph. Because of a car in front of me i had to reduce my speed. I think it would have going up a little more.

On the way back home on the other side of the Autobahn the GPS stops at 250 km/h because of the wind.

There was a long corner on the Autobahn and i had to hold the steering wheel really hard on this speed.
....in this long corner it happends.....

I couldn´t see other cars so i used 2 lanes in the corner..... left and middle one....

Like a "lightning" lamps flashed up behind me. So i was going to the middle/right lane.

A Porsche passed me ! REALLY REALLY FAST !!! I think he was around 175 - 180 mph !

That was my evening. A great evening! sorry for writing such a long story about it but all is like i wrote !

Now my Lightning and me need a beer!

Many greetings,

André

I told you from all of my mods. No chip no pulley. Really simple mods.

I think the lowering and the Tonneau are a good mod for the autobahn too.

Andre,

Once my truck gets delivered to Germany, we're going to have to get together and have some fun on the Autobahn (should be late July)!!

Till then,

Steve

I welcome competition. And yes lowering the truck does help with top end.
here is a link to the finish at the texas event .there I was running 157 also,as you can see the truck lookes like it is standing still [which is a good thing]

the big thing to remember is not hold on the wheel so tight that you are moving the wheel in a jerky movement. At those speeds you need to be very fluid in how you adjust the trucks attitude.Stan

Yes, thats true.... especially you cann feel it on fast Autobahn corner. I´ve needed 2 lanes in this corner and had to be really careful with the steering wheel.
My car before was a modded 350 HP BMW Z3 M roadster (i´ve done my internationl C-licence with it) . I´ve taken the same Autobahn corner with more speed and needed only 1 lane.
I know i am sitting in a truck. A great truck ! And i was only going by this high speed in the corner because there were no other cars in my view. For a truck it was a great feeling, good to drive and change a lane if a Porsche comes.

I´m thinking of mod my brakes. That´s the only thing i not really trust in on the Autobahn.

RUSLOW could you tell me something about brakes?
