Need Help

First the good news, I got my 4lb pulley on by cutting off my old pulley. The bad news is that before I could cut off my pulley my truck started missing. On my way home I decided to to run a little fast and got up to about 130 mph. Right after I came down from the high speed my truck started missing so I thought I have messed up my plugs. I was right. I pulled my plugs to put on one heat range cooler pulgs and found all four plugs on the left side, if your looking at the motor, to be destroyed. The metal sparkers had been melted and broke off. I also noticed that the tube going into the valve cover was out. So I put it back in and finished the job. The plugs on the right side were all still intack. When I got my pulley on and my new plugs in my truck is still missing. Not neerly as bad but is still missing. This truck is my daily driver and I need to fix it. Anyone know what to do or try.

Possible you could have some piston damage. Also possible the you could have nicked a valve with the broken part of the spark plug. Also could have melted the head. I have seen some heads in BAD shape due to detonation. -Mat-

What could have caused detonation?

On a stock truck with only a superchips tuner installed.

What can I do to fix it?

Also, my superchip tuner only codes P1000. The book says:Motor check not complete, more driving required. The check engine light has never came on.

Anything could cause detonation.
Bad gas, clogged fuel filter, accidentally putting 87 octane in>???
Could be the Superchips programmer has to aggresive of a tune. I am not too familar with them.
Sucking in unmetered air can pose a problem as well. So many different things. Have you had it at a qualified shop to get looked at yet>??? -Mat-

Try to locate a bore scope to look into each cylinder. Or do a compression and leak down test on each cylinder. My guess is eith a valve or piston damage. Do you know what the timing and AFR were on the tune? If not you were very foolish to do a run like that. Always verify your tune. Dyno with wide band monitoring is cheap insurance against major engine damage.

Very sorry to hear about your probs onlyfordman

Are you saying it was missing BEFORE you WOT it up to 130 ???
If so as said VERY VERY BAD MOVE....

Hard to tell by the way you worded it

The bad news is that before I could cut off my pulley my truck started missing. On my way home I decided to to run a little fast and got up to about 130 mph.

I know you are new to the Lightning, lets hope it's something easy.

I heard nothing about u having problems changing the plugs ???
Did you change them ?
What exact plugs did you put in ?
What Gap ?
Did you double check each and every line, hose, connector, coil wire, etc

When you say the tube going into the valve cover was out
I assume you mean the PCV Valve ? did you check to make sure the tee off of that line is also pluged in, and the other line going up to the Upper Manifold ? Also the line on the Drivers side valve cover, and the 3 lines going into the Rubber Inlet Tube, etc....

Either way you need to disconnect your Batt, let it sit a few minutes, (some say flash the head lights off a few times). After a little while put it back on and it will clear the computer and you should be code free.

There are A LOT of things to check before writting off the motor, but of what I remember from your earlier post the motor has some miles on it, so you really need to make sure everything is right before you go WOT to 130, that is MASSIVE cylinder pressure and heat put on the motor. Remember getting a brick to go 135 takes a lot of power, and all needs to be right before attemting it.

Do you have a Lightning Brothers near you ???
If you do I would recommend asking one to spend 10 minutes with their head under you hood and double check each coil plug,
injector plug, vac line, PCV Hoses, Electrical connectors usually pulled off for a plug change, etc....

GOOD LUCK, keep us informed......

Sorry about the wording. I meant that it was not missing until I went 130. I did take it to my local ford delear and they ran a computer check on it and the #5 coil and plug is bad. The plugs are brand new but the coil being out messed up the plug. So I had to buy a new coil pack($141) and order a new plug. The plug will not be here until tomorrow, so I will have to wait until then. Thanks for all the help.
