Frank5L posted this, about his truck:

New stock COMPUTER HP Record?

Well some of you may know that I've gone to a Precision GTS76 turbo.

Just got home from the dyno. What a long day.

Got everything buttoned up and started running ice through my intercooler reservoir. Notice that no matter how much water we put in it, it drinks it and the pump gets air in it and quits pumping. CONTINUOUSLY. About to get fed up with it, I walked to the front of the truck and water begins RUNNING OUT THE FILTER!!!

At this point, we cannot figure out what could be wrong. Start dissassembling and find a fairly large crack at the bottom of the intercooler tank! And a POND in the lower intake. Ended up sucking probably 4 gallons of water from the motor with a shop vac. Yanked plugs, Drained the oil and got about 6-8 more gallons from the pan! UnBELIEVABLE!!! Luckily a TIG fixed that crack RIGHT up!

Get it all back together again, and first 'pull' I didnt hit the record guage goes to 20psi. Lifted. I only have a .6 bar spring in the Wastegate, so it should only make about 9lbs of boost. So we unhook the electronic boost controller and go again. This time we're recording. I've got 10 gallons of C12 in the tank for safety margin. Got the wideband hooked up and it reads about 12.2 all the way through till we hit the rev limiter and went to 12.5. Boost went nearly instantly to 11-12psi and crept up to 15-16psi

Much to my surprise and disbelief, THIS is what I found when I hit escape a few times...

THIS IS WITH A 100% STOCK COMPUTER!!!!!!

My SCT PRP should be here Friday and lookout...

Thanks to a bunch of great friends of mine today for the thrashing! Quite a few guys that are not on this forum, all owners/employees of a local shop, Polk Performance and the following NLOC members

Robert- "rmfreeze"
Shawn "ShockTherapy"
Ben "StangBolt"
Grady "wrightlightning"

Eric "dowheelies" You know I'm gunning for that record I ordered another WG Spring to keep the creep down, and I'm gonna get this thing tuned up and dialed in!

My reply:

OMG, what an unbelievable afternoon/evening! Now that Frank has posted the results, I think I can say we were all very surprised about the results, and it has a lot more left in it with some tweaking and tuning. I was considering twin turbos for my 32V engine build up, but after seeing how well the single did on a completely stock longblock (including stock injectors, MAF, Throttle Body AND computer!), I may have to talk FLP into getting another single kit together for me. Oh, and I'd like mine minus the Goldfish please.

Congrats again Frank...and I'm glad I could be there to mop up, assist, and witness a piece of L history last night.

WOO HOO CONGRATS FRANK

After having the oppurtunity to get one HELL of a death ride (as I call it) in Sals Beast, seeing the #'s first hand that monster put down on the Dyno, and seeing results like this from Frank.
There is no doubt in my mind the Turbo is going to be the new direction for many Lightning owners.

Me and Sal have discussed doing it on mine amof
(Not that I have anything against S/C's), but the facts are clear that you can get a hell of a lot more power on less boost, and that allows us with Stock Heads and Cams to overcome issues we can not with High Boost S/C applications.

WOO HOO, it's great to see other options for us........

Turbos are the way to go now days. Just look at a few of the regular f150 guys running 9lbs with a turbo. They are hitting the 400-450rwhp mark all the time.

Now only if SVT made a factory turbo vehicle.
