Calling wydopnthrtl....

Hey Rich, just a few quick questions about your tires. I recall you saying they were 305/55s... What's the weight difference between those and say a stock sized tire? I'm about to get some new hoops and thinking about going to a larger sidewall as I really like the stance/look of yours. Thanks.

No I'm here. Just busy.

I recieved the tires mounted on my boyds from discounttire.com. The whole wheel assembly weighed 1 more pound than did the stock wheel/tire.

So.. I'm not sure what the tire weight differance is?

Couple side notes:

They do slip a little easier (305-55-18 Nitto 404s) however because of the increased diameter. They don't seem to "go away" as easily when spinning. In other words they don't let the motor just run away as if you were on wet pavement. Everytime I've gone WOT in first gear, They spun. But I was also able to keep my foot in it too. Could'nt do that with the F1s.
My best ET on F1s was a 12.84 and on these has been a 12.85.

Balance. I had to get them rebalanced. Even though the overall weight is the same. The taller sidewall will flex more and small balance issues will stick out. So far I've had it up to about 120mph at the track and it's been very smooth.

Also, my wheels are stock size w/stock rear offset. I have no rubbing at all (1" front and 3" rear drop) However the front tires do protrude past the fender lip. If I were to drive through some mud I'd think they would sling stuff up the side of the truck.

This is an 34 MB exhaust VIDEO . But you can very clearly see them in it and from differing angles too.

Rich

I had those tires (2sets) on my '99 for a while. I bought them for the look, the way they really filled out the wheel well. I loved them when they were new, as far as traction and ride, but once you get about halfway through the tread they really spin too easily, IMHO.

Let us know when they get there Rich, and see if you feel the same.

At the rate I'm putting milage on them, they'll be dry rotted before I get 1/2 way down on tread depth.
