Help please: Lost power & boost
Help please: Lost power & boost
I have a 99 lightning with 112,000 miles.. I don't know if with the high milage the truck has lost it's bite..I hardly ever drive my truck hard and it's only seen the track once.. It seems i've lost acceleration and definitely torque..It slightly hesitates if I come out of the gas and get back on it.. Also at WOT my boost gauge is only reading 8lbs and I use to see 11lbs maybe 12lbs on a cool day
My mods are Air raid CAI kit, JDM superchip, 4lb lower and boost bypass. I took my truck in to Ford to have a fuel injection flush along with cleaning the intake and throttle body..I had my plugs changed to NGK TR6, new fuel filter, and had a new Gates belt installed.. I thought maybe my belt was slipping b/c he told me the old belt (Gatorback) was slightly longer than the Gates. Checked for exhaust leaks. I don't know if it's my chip since it hasn't been reprogramed since 2003. The truck doesn't seem to be pinging or anything, and my autometer and stock boost gauge is reading the vacuum very accurately but just in high boost it pegs out at 8lbs..It just seems as if i'm mashing the gas a lot more than it will move.. Even the blower doesn't sound as strong..
Anyone have any suggestions on any other things I may want to try?? This is driving me crazy. A buddy of mines with a stock fox body 5.0 pulled along side of me and we stomped it to see what they'd do..
I couldn't pull away from him...
Thanks

Very good chance your Intercooler is totally clogged with oil.
Some have found cleaning the intercooler makes a huge difference in performance, with that many miles if it hasnt been done, IT NEEDS TO BE

Thanks again!!g
Blackbolt, you can also check the boost actuator to see if it is shutting all the way. If it is week or if there is a vacumm leak it may be slow closing. This will cause you to not get full boost.
