Wow!!!

My 01 L was down with a spit plug. All it had was a 2# pully. So I pulled the motor to put in stage 2 heads from LFP. While the motor was out I also did cats back, it 22's, 160 t-stat, ported eaton, C&L plenum, SBTB, 12 in powerstack, FTVB, 4# pully, and preditor.

HOLY *****

Its like I bought a whole new truck... when its there... I only took it out for about 2 hours. But when I get on it, its only there sometimes. Is this because I dont have a tune from Sal yet? Is it ok to drive if I retard timing and raise fuel with my preditor till I get a tune from Sal? How much should I retard and how much should I go up with fuel?

Thanks.

I'm not sure how long you've read the threads here in regards to tuning ,mods and predators but you absolutly do not want to be getting into it without knowing what your af's and timing are.You are flirting with disaster, as in blown engine. Get your truck dyno'd and then order a tune if needed.

with the pred i think you can only go up and down 10%
so for now add the fuel and pull out the timing as much as you can and get to a dyno before you blow the block apart

I personally would get a dyno tune through one of the big 3 on here. You'll be safe and see better number's!!

I don't know if there is anyone closer to you who is good, but it is not the world's longest drive (at light throttle) to LA to have Danny Swanson get it right. Getting it right means the motor has a good chance of living because the tune was for your truck, with your equipment and not a generic tune. It is nice to know it is right, rather than just hoping it is right..........

Thanks guys.

LightninMike,
I can go up 15% with fuel. Should I go up 15%? Im not sure how much I can pull out of the timing... but I should pull out as much as poss.? Around how many deg. should I be at?

Kerno,
How do I get ahold of Danny in L.A.? Im going to see when I can get in for a dyno tune.

4# lower and Ported Eaton= MAXED MAF! At least for me it max at 5,000rpms.
You can throw all the fuel you want at it but if the MAF can't read all the excess air volume then you will have a major lean condition!
Stay out of the gas. Check you MAFv @ WOT with you Predator and see how high it goes. If you see 4.9v or higher then you are maxed out and need some sort of Mafextender.
