New 01 Lightning Owner

I am the proud owner of a sliver 2001 L. I have been reading all the good information on this list. Any advice or hints for a 01 that is 100% stock? Things I should look out for?

Congrats! My advice, keep your enemies close and the gas stations even closer.

Welcome to the board!

You need to keep and eye on your plugs because they tend to work lose and blow out on 99-02L's. Otherwise, enjoy your new truck.

Welcome to F150.

2001 L bought new in May of that year: 85,400 trouble-free miles, modded by me, 1/4-miled, dyno passes, and daily driven. No blown out plugs but I did replace them using a high quality anti-sieze, ran them dowm hand-tight, and then JUST 1/16th of a turn more. They've been in for over 30,000 miles.

I would change the fuel filter if I were you.

Thanks for the good info. I will check those plugs and change the fuel filter.

Ditto on the plugs. I experienced a loose plug @35K. I caught it in time though. It was loose enough to create a ticking sound.

As far as mods. A Factory Tech Valve Body would be a good bang for the buck I just installed one 2 weeks ago and it is a good place to start out. Also the standard chip, filter and plugs should get you pointed in the right direction.

Enjoy the truck!
