Honest opinion on the Whipple
Honest opinion on the Whipple
I'm on the verge of adding a bunch of NWV (non warranty voiding) mods to my L (e-fan, C&L, Chickenears billet evrywhere), but I keep thinking I should put this chunk of change into an account to hold off on a Whipple, since without this huge chunk, I'd never really have 4 grand at any one time to plop down.
I keep hearing "2 weeks", but that was 2 months ago. "Lysholm too slow", and "Inlet casting got screwed up".. jeez, a new issue every couple of weeks.
In your opinion, will this thing eventually come to fruition? It "looks" like the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it's such a Unicorn. Do you guys honestly believe that Whipple will get their stuff together to make this happen in the next 6 months or so? I'm just a little confused as to what route I should take with my money right now.
Truck has 4#, FTVB, JLP Air, Lakewoods, PCM flash , Oil Sep, and gauges already. Cna;t figure out what path to take but this Whipple dilemma isn't making it any easier.
This sums up my feelings right now, even though I want one..

Yes, the Whipple will come out.
They have already spent the money. Getting the molds for cast pieces does not come cheap. Whipple has apparently already received some of the cast parts.
And Ford Racing has put its reputation on the line.
The Predator took over a year of "two weeks," but it's out.
"Two weeks" is like the "10 minutes" that restaurant hostesses always tell you or the "20 minutes" that L.A. residents estimate for all local drive times. It means we have no freakin' idea when the thing is actually going to happen, but "two weeks" sounds like something good to say.

but the thing about the predator is it was the NEXT big thing. Turns out that hte stock tunes are too aggressive and blow up engines.
Keep your money, continue to invest it and by time the whipple comes out, buy 2 of them.

There will be a couple of turbo kits available in the near future, but the cost will be well above what you can do a blower for. Thats always a consideration. We will have a kit ready in the future.
Bolt on a Whipple with some decent ported heads and some mild cams and have a 500+hp daily driver. Mines 558hp at the wheels with the 2.3L Lyscholm (Whipple) running 17lbs of boost.
People who are patient and wait for the Whipples will definately NOT be disappointed. They're right around the corner from being shipped too.

I have been waiting for one for a while, though the extra wait has helped me save money for the built motor its going on.
I don't want to be without my truck much longer, I'll give em a few more weeks to catch up on their supply and if its not delivered I will just buy another magnum or stock blower. No big deal.
