You do not have to pull the window out to smooth and paint the trim. The trim is bolt to the frame for the back window.
So your saying i can just un-bolt the TRIM, and the window will stay put?

that will not happen. The window needs to come out before the trim around it can be removed.

I did a little write up on resealing the rear window and it will show you pics. What I didn't do was remove the trim since it was still in good shape and offers no window sealing anyway, only to keep the trim from rubbing the paint.

Dan, picture is worth a thousand words.. thank you sir!

Looks like it would just be easier to pull back some of the rubber outter seal, tape it off, tape window off, and sand prep and paint while its all still on the truck..

just to add about the warranty, it is not covered under ESP. The only TSB out on the rear window is for the seals around the sliding window which allow "noise".

It is covered under the factory warranty though.

It's not as hard as it seems. Luckily Ford made all the plastic stuff easy to remove and not one piece. It would give you a chance to reseal the window at the same time which will eventually have to get done since that factory seal sucks!

Thanks for the Dan. I totally forgot about the lip on the inside of the window trim! Sorry for any confusion.
