Noob Advice

Im a noob here, and I would like to know everything you would recommend to get a daily driven lightning safely and consistently into the 12s, without risking any engine problems down the road. Also, can you please be specific with brand names and model numbers since I am a noob and dont know that much yet. Thanks for your help.

If I was to get a whipple 2.3l supercharger, what mods should I get to safely run 18.5lbs of boost? Again, can you mention brand names that some of you use?

15+ lbs of boost on a stock motor is pushing it! Im sure it can be done but u want that much power and want it to be a safe daily driver i think you are going to need a built motor. You can get into mid-high 12's with a chip, pulley, and intake. You might also conside getting an FTVB for the tranny which will make your shifts firmer and quicker. Finally you will need some extra traction, with all that torque our rear wheels just wana spin so you might want some traction bars and maybe a pair of slicks. But IMHO I think you will blow a rod if u put 18.5 lbs of boost on a stock motor.

I like the look and function of the JLP intake and the colored JLP "thundertube". A 4 or 5 pound pulley. (get from most any vendor) Chicknears has FTVB and tranny pan + filter kits that are good and reasonably priced. JLP has some good traction bars. I would talk to Sal at PSP about getting you a tune and use some kind of SCT tuner (xcalibrator i think is the name.) Not sure about the slicks, but most agree that a 16x10 wheel is optimal. Everyone (esp rob_02lightning search his name) has great things to say about sal and his tunes. with the lightnings IT'S ALL IN THE TUNE. if you want a safe daily driver that can run 12's consistent, there ya go. welcome to f150online. and the serch button is your friend.

with just the mods that BigSVT mentioned above, would it be beneficial to also add headers, a hi flow cat, cat back exhaust, NGK TR6 plugs, higher flow fuel injectors, and an air/fuel meter?

Those are all small bolt-ons so i would say no. The stock exhaust is good, but im sure if u did a a full exhaust(headers, cats, and cat-back) you would get a nice little gain... but probably nothing too much since u arent adding a new blower and very high boost numbers. If im wrong someone chime in.
