Weird call

Just got a call from my buddy who said under hard acceleration his Lightning died. When he went to start it the theft light was flashing with lines across the odometer. The truck will not start just turns over. I told him I thought it was a pats issue but never heard of one shutting down while driving hard

mine did the same thing and it's a '99. I was getting on the expressway, hammered it, merged with traffic at about 120 standing on the brakes and the engine just shut off.

I coasted to the shoulder, thought aww *****. Put it in park, fired right up. never did it again.

I taped the chip in the PCM that afternoon

pull the chip out. and take the neg. battery terminal off... then turn the head lights on to drain any power thats left, then put the terminal back on should be back to stock, If its chip related that should fix it....

His L still won't start. He also informed me about having to repair some wires under the hood for his gauges. I guess one of them was laying on the header and burned...He fixed the wires then went for a ride. He whacked it hard and that is when it shutdown the motor. He tried taking the chip out and disconnecting the battery but still gets the flashing theft light with the lines across the odometer... I told him I thought he fried his pcm. It is being flatbedded now. Tomorrow he will take it and have the shop check it out. Needless to say he is bumbed... Thanks for the speedy help.....

I recently had this problem. I also have a 99. What worked for me is unlock the truck manually, get in lock the doors with the remote and turn the key to on for about 30 seconds. The theft light blinked fast at first then went solid and went off. After that the truck started right up havent had a problem since. Hope this helps
